OK so lets see, Earths current fastest interstellar craft is Voyager 1, it is going @38,000 MPH, and it's 13.1 billion miles from Earth, and took 40 years to get that far, also it is 19.3 light hours from Earth.
There are 8760 light hours in a light year, so at ten light years at Earths current maximum spacecraft speed (there have been faster ones, but they are not around right now) it would take about 181554 years to get there,(stopping for gas, restroom breaks a quick nap and food) I hope they have a sleeper car.

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

Best listen in carefully to check signals that might give away their intent, but they would be a decade out of date

There's little point in making the trip unless you want to take the war back to them.

You just need a blink drive.

And at ten light years from us they may have watched some of our TV programming and could be hiding, I would.

Of course, they will have had around 30 years to see our defences.

There was talk of energy transfer drives a couple of years back, taking up the size of a football pitch.

At the current rate of resource use, humans are unlikely to make it into space within a couple of hundred years, and even if they do, they will be greeted by a load of fast moving debris a few miles up.
