My Satellite Setup
Humax Foxsat HDR, Samsung Sky+ HD, Skybox, Fransat HD box, Fransat SD box
Several dishes up to 150cm, receiving 28E 26E 19E 13E 9E 5W
My Location
Lugo, Galicia, Spain
My super-sensitive Echostar 780 FTA seems to have given up the ghost. It was right up there with the Pace 2600 for Astra 2d reception on an undersized dish, only 150cm in NW Spain. My Technomate TMS 1500 and a ClarkeTech 1500 are not a patch on the Echostar, sensitivity wise. Any suggestions on a worthy replacement? Season´s Greetings/Felices fiestas.:-snowman

Some of the Kaon receivers could have very "low threshold" (LT) sensitive receivers. That's what I remember from reading test results in Tele Satellite magazine 3 years ago.

I want to know something:

What creates "SENSITIVITY" in a receiver, is it a "head"?

AND THEN; If this "head" or whatever that decisive element might be, is for example, made of GOLD --- would that make a receiver SENSITIVE???

Look at DGS Relook or ABCOM boxes, they are the best i ever tried.

Avoid Dreambox, Echostar.
 
I think that the sensitivity of the receiver is dictated mainly by the OEM design and the parts (components) used.
Starting from the tuner.
If the components used are the most sensitive, then the price tag of the whole receiver would be too expensive.
So there is a trade off.
