At the end of February will be delivered YOU 9
08.02.2016 09:23.54 TODAY! | the editors | Print | views
A new telecommunications satellite of SES 9 for global satellite operator SES (Astra) will be delivered the day 24.2.2016 (with the backup date of launch 25.2.2016). The satellite into space, the company SpaceX plot using carrier rocket Falcon 9.
With a view to minimising the impact of the delay starts the rocket Falcon 9 of last year, SpaceX supports modification of the mission. Referred to the mission will be reduced by the time YOU reach orbital positions for 9, maintaining the OSD (Operational Service Date) and will end in the third quarter of 2016, as originally planned.
9 YOU will be parked on position 108,2 ° E and will replace and increase the capacity for video services in Asia. Position now uses 22 million households in the region. The satellite will be placed in the position of the satellite YOU 7 and increase capacity for video services on emerging markets in Asia and will provide support for the growing mobile communication services over the Indian Ocean.
TEC 9 is part of the investment program for the further development of services in the dynamically developing markets. Along with the other six satellites under construction this program YOU will increase capacity by 2018 on emerging markets by 21 percent.
The satellite YOU 9 manufactured and supplied Boeing Satellite Systems and is designed to operate for 15 years on the geostationary orbit. The satellite is equipped with a high performance in 57 Ku-band transponders (36 MHz equivalent transponders 81 x).

With launch today - Anyone found the usual SES launch broadcast? I think they put it on 19.2 usually?

Launch update
The Falcon 9 remains healthy in advance of SpaceX and SES’s mission to deliver the SES-9 satellite to Geostationary Transfer Orbit. Out of an abundance of caution, the team opted to hold launch for today to ensure liquid oxygen temperatures are as cold as possible in an effort to maximize performance of the vehicle. SpaceX is now targeting tomorrow, Thursday Feb. 25, at 6:46pm ET for launch of SES-9.

(that is 26 Feb at 00:46 UTC)

SES-9 READY TO ENTER COMMERCIAL SERVICE - SES.com
LUXEMBOURG, 1 June 2016 -- SES S.A. (Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) announced today that its new SES-9 spacecraft is entering commercial service. SES-9 has successfully completed its testing and reached its orbital position at around 108.2 degrees East where it has joined SES-7 and will replace NSS-11.

SES-9, built by Boeing Satellite Systems International, is the largest SES satellite to serve the Asia-Pacific region, with 57 high-power Ku-band transponders – equivalent to 81x36MHz transponders, out of which 53 are incremental.
This, combined with the TT&C frequencies I mentioned above, makes me think SES-9 has transponders in 10.95...11.2 and 11.7...12.75 GHz.

CoB for SES-9 is not available yet, but the CoB of co-located SES-7 shifted slightly from 108.25°E to 108.225°E. Thus making more room for SES-9.
The TLE's so far have SES-9 at 108.3°E, probably this is the actual CoB, or at least very close to it.

SES-9 is the replacement satellite for the ageing NSS-11, launched in 2000.
Now finally, NSS-11 is leaving 108.15°E, drifting East 1.4°/day initially. Next location not yet listed in CoB table.

Remaining satellites are SES-7 (108.25°E) and SES-9 (108.3°E).
