Madrid need 150cm offset antenna to avoid problems with rain / bad weather.
With the small 94cm antenna offset can not stand heavy rain, but I need more diameter for channels I want from this position.

if you can receive that on your current 94cm dish, you do not need a 150cm, a CM 120 will do.

Possibly a fam 1.37 would be equally as good ( and a lot cheaper)

Have tried again on LH110, but still no joy. Wind has dropped a little, but not much! Can lock BBC1 HD Scotland for most of the time, but not BBC 1 or any of the new txps. Will try again in next few days, or swap 110 for 137 and try with that

OK, now I have a problem I cannot get my head round. Replaced the LH110 with a Fam 1.37 which I know is damaged in some way (cannot see where), but I know it records lower sig readings than it should.

Can now see BBC1 HD ok, and all other HD txps ok, but VU+ can now see 11053 H, but cannot see 11464 H, which was much stronger than 11053 H on the 1.8? Answers on a postcard please!

Have also decided the S1 reads between 1 and 2 dB higher than any STB on sale. Need to replace the S1 with something much better. Any ideas? (and discount shops to get it from)
 
Checked the signal on the VU box this morning, BBC One HD was reading 8.4dB and pixelating. Could not see 11053H or 11464H at all. Tried again about an hour ago, BBC 8.7dB no problems, 11053H 9.1dB with slight pixelation, no 11464H. Just now, BBC 8.8dB no problem, 11053H 9.2dB no problem, still nothing on 11464H.
This would seem to indicate that the SNR has to be 0.8dB higher to get good lock.

(Ref to the S1 was my sat meter, not the VU solo SE am using)

Very interesting!

My 1.8 can see 11464H strongest, but the bent 1.37 cannot see it at all, and 1053H when signal improves at certain times of the day. Neither visible at the moment. My 10714H is 9.1, even on the bent 1.37 Fam that I am using for testing.

This does not correlate with Tururu´s findings.

Tomorrow, or Monday, will re-route cable back to 1.8 dish, check all signals using VU+ and then re-check on smaller dish.

Something in what I am seeing does not make any sense at all.
 
Set up the LH110 again today, next to the Fam 1.37 ( which is still reading lower than it should ) so I could measure both, and try to find the test signals on 11053 H and 11464 H. Was unable to see either signal from either dish initially, reading 0dB on VU+. Both dishes we set up with BU single LNBs ( white marked ).

Decided to change LNB on LH110 for GI Twin. Got both signals, 11053 H at 9.2dB and 11464 H at 10dB. Then tried a Goobay quad and got the same result. Tried the BU again, no signal. Tried another new BU, still no signal. Back to Goobay and still 9.2dB and 10dB respectively.

Then tried the GI and Goobay on the 1.37 and got the same results, nothing with the BU, but signals with the other LNBs.

As the threshold for 11053 H is 9.1dB on the VU+, and I have had intermittent lock over the last few days using a BU single, I think when the signal is strong enough the BU sees it. But cannot explain why none of the BU LNBs can see 11464 H with such a strong signal. Compared the BU against the Goobay on several txps and it reads about 0.4dB lower on average.

Signals from LH110 using Goobay LNB have dropped on average 0.3db across a range of txps I was testing from the 1st test at approx 12:00, to latest check at 14:30, as a result I have lost 11053 H at present.

Took the 1.37 out of correct alignment and according to the VU+ the drop off point for 11464 H also appears to be around the 9dB mark.

Thanks, I think so. So it looks you are finding these tests harder to receive compared to the other DVB-S2 transponders and are quite close to the threshold but the good news is they seem to be within reach. If they use this mode for live HD transmissions I suspect it'll create problems for some people with miss-aligned or slightly undersized dishes, even more so than the current issues with the HD transponders which I understand are slightly harder to receive than the SD transponders.

It's interesting that the BU single seems to much worse. I find the Goobay quad to be very good for my small dish looking at higher frequencies (no UK spots) but for me the BU single was generally slightly better but not so useful with only one output.
 
I've done a blind scan on 11464 H with a TBS 5922 and there isn't even much of an RF signal. I tried with a Technomate TM 5402 HD and not a sausage either. The nearest TX I can see is 11428 H. Reception on all other channels is pretty good today. I'm going to change my IBU C120 DIY conversion for a Invacom quad one of these days but I can't imagine that will make much difference.

Nagusia, I can't see 11464 H with any of my BU singles. If you change the lnb I think you will see it. All my other lnbs have no problem with that frequency. I think the BU is the problem
 
Just got back home, signal has gone back up.
11053 H 9dB ( pixelates )
11464 H 10.1 dB full lock, no problems
BBC1 HD 8.6dB full lock ( pixelates at 8.4dB )
BBC1 HD Scotland 8dB ( pixelates ) locks on 8.2dB
BBC1 London 8.3dB full lock

I've changed the BU for an Invacom c120 quad and still no 11464 H which is giving me improved reception all round by 0.5-1 dB. I think I must just be beyond the fringe/off the cliff but given the great reception on other spot beam frequencies I don't understand why I'm not seeing anything.

OK, now scratching my head with both front paws! What sig level do you have on 10773 H 22000 and 10847 V 23000?
 
10847 V 23000 - 10.4 dB
10773 H 22000 - 11.7 dB
I've just done a blindscan of the whole spectrum and the signal seems pretty strong tonight.

What length of cable have you got? It looks like the top end of each band is dropping off quite a lot.
 
Now scratching my head with all four paws! Done a quick check of close satellites to see if any could cause a problem on this frequency, but no joy, nothing obvious. Could be your close to the "edge of the world" but will see if I can get the VU+ to give me a reading of signal strength in db, at the moment it is configured to read snr in dB.

H, you know this box better than I do, any help would be appreciated!
 
Closest I can get to 11464 H with the S1 meter is 11426 V, so not a good comparison.

Using 10773 H, BBC1 London, I get -38dB or 70dBuV, which is much stronger than you have, so I guess it could be down to being close to a null zone
