Hi Guys,

Just installed my first motorised system the other day comprising of the following components, TM 5402, TD110, TM 2600, Inverto Black eco.


I could do with a little help to see if everything is aok with the system, I followed all the guides on here to the letter well sort of, here i think is my mistake as i set the dish up o my nearest sat 1w having made sure the motor was set on '0' thus aligining it with my horizon meter i got 100% Q on the Horizontal TP and around 98% on the Vertical TP so far so good i thought.

The part i missed was entering the Lat/lon into the 5402 and sending the dish to 1w via the motor, Question here is does this matter.

Second problem is my lat is 53.5159 and my Lon is -2.4387 i enterd these into the 5402 after tightening evrything up apart from my lon is entered as 0.3 is this correct or how do i work out what to enter if i try 2.43,0.43,0.04 and so on i get a crap signal if i put it back at 0.3 all is ok.

I can say i can pick up all sats from 43e - 43w no problem although a few of the free to air channels are not picked up on some birds and strange that on 39e i get a difference of nearly 20% quality between the vertical and horizontal TP's, could this be a part of the alignment problem

So my questions are do i start again from scratch and if so what do i enter into the Lon 0.00 as i cannot for the life of me work it out, Could it possibly be the Green eco is not up to scratch.

According to dishpointer my dish elevation should be 22 but i have it set around the 25 mark for the best signal on thor, could this be wrong.


Any help suggestions would be appreciated.

Set the usals to 2.4 east and 53.5 north and then tune to a channel on Thor 1w this will move the motor In relation to where you are hopefully it's all as simple as that after you reallign the dish again. Let us know how you get on digi247

If the poster's longitude is -2.43, he needs to set to 2.43 West in the USaLS menu, then the relatively small realignment completed.

PS. Providing your motor latitude setting is correctly set, the reading on the dish bracket is irrelevant, it simply needs to be adjusted for the strongest signal/quality.

Spent a couple of hours on it this morning and still no joy, First off i entered my settings 53.5 and 0.2.4 and then drove the dish to 1 west went up the ladders and noticed that the motor point was slightly off the '0' mark so i though right adjust it now to get the best possible signal for 1 west and i did i had 100% Q for both V and H TP's.

Then i decided to test the other sats and guess what no signal on any of thenm at all, so then tried adjusting dish elevation to compensate still the same problem, Again tried adjusting mount,dish etc realised i was getting nowhere.

I decided to put it back to how my original install was apart from the dish being 0.5 higher, So set the motor back to zero and aligned for 1 west again same signal 100% on both then went back to the reciver set 53.5 and 00.3 and tried again and suprise suprise everything is back but at a higher signal, I tried 39e and what was once 75-80 is now 95+ bonus all other sats are pulling in fine as well.

I am now thinking of leaving well alone as i think i might have threaded 2 of the tm 2600 bolts as they wont tighten or slacken off ( Oh well ). Anyway been for some stock tonight and picked up the Ultra black to replace the green eco as this was just to get me started anyway.

Zero on the motor scale does not equate to 1West ...
It equates to True South ..
When your offset is entered into the usals menu ...
..and the motor points correctly due South ..the pointer on the scale will indeed be slightly off zero when the dish is moved to 1 west ..

1 make sure your dishs lnb arm is in a sraight line with the zero marker and motor assembly
2 place on the pole having made sure its perfectly vertical/plumb
3 point the whole assembly roughly due south ..
4 set your dishes elevation roughly correct as per manual ...for your location and the motor elevation on the pole bracket as per manual again for your location..
5 enter your lat long offset into the usals menu for your location ..
6 select a preset channel on 1West on the receiver ...let the dish drive to this location ..
7 Go up the ladder with a meter ..and rotate the whole dish motor assembly slightly around the pole by hand watching the meter ..and fix it at maximum signal ..
In your case this won't be a big rotation being only a degree outof line..
9 lock up the motor to stop it moving ..
10 ...tweak the dish elevation for maximum signal ..and lock this up ..
11 descend the ladder and check all satellites by checking across the arc ..from extreme East to West ..
12 ..this should now track the arc fairly accurately ..
..possibly minor tweaking needed for perfection ...but here a marker pen is useful ..as you can mark the setup ..and always return to this point if you mess up ..

It's worth checking to make sure the motor inclination is correctly set. It's easy to mistakenly set the angle to the wrong markings on those motors.

Finally managed it just swapped out the Inverto Green Eco for the Ultra Black and then set about re-aligning again this time i managed it i cannot believe how close i was as it was a smidgeon out, Not too sure if the ultra helped though but its working great guns now.

Tested one of the V TP's on 39e that was giving me about 34% and no signal before is now a healthy 80% and a picture at last.
