The skies down here are much darker than in the UK even though we're near to built-up areas. We went out at about 10:15 even though the moon was very bright. Only saw a couple of meteors before we went back in for fear of the mozzies.

Later at about 11:30 we tried again. The moon had gone down quite considerably but another quarter of a hour only saw another couple of meteors. No fireballs unfortunately.

Just came back inside now that its clouding over but i did manage t see a few, even in the Midlands which has terrible light pollution. I used to go to Balmedie Beach when i lived in Aberdeen every time there was any type of meteor shower.

There was very little light pollution in Balmedie so it was usually spectacular if the sky was clear :D

Its times like this when you could quite easily become envious of where Analogusat lives.

It was raining & clouded out up here do dont be jealous of the weather up here :D

Clear winter nights are very spectacular though :)

Custom built PC

We had some luck, but it was still disappointing, very few, maybe 5 or 6 an hour, took a nap and got up at 4AM, still was disappointing so went back to bed, that booster rocket coming down was the best show of the year around here, maybe they can do that one again....I hear that they may be having control problems with their space station, (No not the ISS) that would be a big show.

To be honest that's been my experience every year that I've gone out to look.

Last night about 03:30 ish I was out the back with the dog, and spotted 3 meteors, they gave off a yellow/orange glow for a few secs and the disappeared.

iPhone camera not really up to the job, for photos.

The dog was sat in the garden chomping a stick.

I went out for a cigarette. And spotted it by accident. I have tried to also use one of the ipcameras. But no joy.

If it's anything like similar 'news' from last year then the astronomers could be mis-reporting to keep their profession 'masonic'. Go outside anyway, you might strike gold.
