Setting up my motor on my 90cm dish

After my post a few days back regarding how many lnbs can i put on one dish, i have decided to try one more time in setting my motor on the dish. I have had so many people telling me that motorising is the best way to get more than one satellite that im going to try again. I will probably be asking for advice on here in next few days and i will also take photos of my progress and since im not very good in setting theses satellites up then i may ask stupid questions but usually everyone on here are so friendly and always willing to give advice.
I have a few questions to begin with to make sure im starting properly although the weather is against me strting today.
First of all due to how the house is situated i have a rather long satellite cable going from the receiver in the house to the dish, does it matter how long the cable is, does it make it more difficult for the motor to work if the lead is long.
Secondly i have a 90cm dish and a 1.2 meter dish, i was going to motorise the 90cm dish on the stand which came with the 1.2 meter dish, would this be ok. There is no easy way of fixing the motor to the 1.2meter dish so decided to use the 90 cm one.
I will post a few photos in next few days of the progress i make but if anyone can see an obvious problem in the pics please let me know so i can rectify. Sorry for such a long message i really want this to work rather than having a motor doing nothing on top of the wardrobe, if it doesnt work this time then i am going to put all my thought into multi lnbs on one dish.

What is your definition of long?

If it is a DISECQ motor a 1.2 mtr dish will be too big for it and will result in a very short life for the motor.
 
If the run is excessive it will suffer voltage drop between the motor and receiver. It would be obvious though as the motor would start doing strange things.

Also, yes you can use the pole/mast from your 1.2 dish as long as the motor bolts to it securely.
 
In practice, your be ok for up to say 30 - 40Mts or so of cable with a motor (100ft plus).
Wouldn't recommenced a DiSEqC motor on a heavy 120cm though.
 
I agree with those who urge caution mounting a 1.2m Dish on a DiSEqC motor.

I put my 1.1m Triax on one in an exposed site (up on the wall!) and took it down quick sharp.

It is still on the same motor, but on a Patio mount in a shelterd spot.
 
Hey all, he's not saying he wants to use the 1.2 dish on the diseqc motor. He just asked if he could use the mounting pole.

But the salutary note of caution was really well made :)
 
should be fine to use the pole if the diseqc motor will take a 3inch pole as thats what it will most likely be
 
The size of the satellite cable from the receiver to the dish which i would have to use with the motor is 70 feet long

Ive enclosed 2 pictures of my satellite dishes to show what i hope to do. The first picture shows my 1.2 meter dish on its stand and the second picture shows my black 90cm dish.
What i want to do is motorise the 90cm dish with a motor i have in the house and use the stand that the 1.2 meter dish is currently on to hold the motor and the 90cm dish. Hope this makes sense. lol

It makes perfect sense :)

Whatever the 90cm is currently mounted on doesn't exactly look robust!

Does it flex much in the wind?
 
Yes it does flex a bit in windy days ive been meaning to move it for months. I take it the stand would be fine for the motor and the dish. I am then eventually going to get another of these stands and put the 1.2 meter back up and station it at a satellite which the 90cm struggles to pick up if any
Hopefully i will get time in next 2 to 3 days to do it, well try to do it. i dont do too well when it comes to setting these dishes up. lol
 
I can see no reason at all why the 90cm cannot be mounted in the way you suggest.

Motorising is easy if you are logical and patient :)
 
Just slide the 3" adaptor off the mount, then install the 90cm on it:)
 
that 1.2m dish will be wasted buy a jaeger 1224 motor for it, will be much better than the 90cm dish you have.
 
On a diffrent note regarding the 1.2 meter dish, not sure if ou have all seen the picture of it on this thread, but could i put a multiple lnb holder on this dish with them 3 poles coming down to hold 1 lnb
