Any wanting to watch the launch of Discovery - shes due off about 2050 BST tonight ifd theres no hiccups.

All the main news channels are certain to be covering at least the launch and climbout phases, but no idea who might be taking more detailed coverage. Anyone know?

possibly CNN? Sky active?

yeah, and the tiles are already dropping off, before launch!

Hope it's a successful mission, but the thing seems jinxed, certainly not the "commercial" launch vehicle it was supposed to be.

Found it - Its on Eutel W2:

Eutelsat W2 at 16 degrees East
Transponder B5 lower, channel 4 horizontal (Mpeg-2 4:2:2)
F=11142 MHz, SR=5.632 MS/sec, FEC=3/4

Hotbird 13E:

Euronews say they're covering it, as does BBC World (I predict they'll give it about 15 seconds and then cut to "How to preserve mud huts in Outer Motoboland").

Surely a rear view mirror would show if the fuel tank is still attached ?

They are trying again this afternoon at 1539BST. Sky news active took the live feeds last time around. Wing mirrors have been polished, & loose tiles stuck back on with gaffer tape.

Sky News now carrying banner saying live coverage from 1530

Still got 1 out of four LH2 sensors down though.
There will be hell to pay if even a wiper motor fails this time .

Well, it finally went up yesterday, " ..... here I come, ready or not! ......"

Didn't see it live, but watched the BBC looped repeat, with 1st bit of NASA post launch press conference tacked on, all those bigwigs looking exactly like their jobs are on the line.

Yes, it went up, with bits dropping off, and now they've got to get it back down, hopefully with not too many more bits dropping off along the way.

One mission objective is to try out a tile repair kit, something that should have been done right at the beginning.

And now on their way to the space station, which is running out of toilet paper, coffee, oxygen, etc.

BBC News said that the astronauts have been told of the fragment dropping off and will be inspecting the shuttle.

I'd say they have a hell of an incentive to find out exactly what it was! :D

I wonder if an astronaut can get life assurance cover, probably don't need it with the pension scheme they must have. I wish them well, it sounds like they are going to need all possible luck available.

All shuttles grounded after another large chunk of foam fell off when the solid boosters were jettisoned. Clearly seen thanks to those brilliant camera shots from the exterior fuel tank, although fortunately it missed the shuttle. Ive got an answer for them - clingfilm..
