Signal problem

Hi, very new to this, I hope it's the right section.

I live in Murcia Region and have a 125cm dish with a pace box. I television most of the time perfect up until 10.30pm every evening and almost none in the mornings.

Can some one tell me what I need to do, ie get a bigger dish or another box or any other suggestions welcome please.

From the look of your equipment in your profile, you are trying to receive Astra 28.2 Sky and Freesat channels, have moved your post from the Digital + section.

DS430N has a sensitive tuner and you shouldn't need to replace that unless it dies.

Dish size is marginal for 24 hour reception, but it's a thorny issue right now as the beam used for your dodgy channels is going to be even more UK centred in the near future, so investing in a bigger dish right now might be a false economy.

We have a few regular contributors from Murcia who are best placed to advise.
I was in a holiday villa there recently (a few km south of Lorca) and they had a 1.3m dish which gave similar results .......... early morning and late evening problems.

A bigger dish is always a plus.

BUT

As Tivu says the signal conditions are set to change within the next few weeks when a new satellite will enter service at 28.2E position (where Sky and BBC are located). It is therefore very uncertain how much a bigger dish is required for 24/7 reception, and for what channels. So please be patient for another month or so, and check what the reports in this forim says for your location.

(I am a bit excited myself here, as I have an 1.8 meter dish to get Freeset, and stand the risk of losing signal altoghether... time will tell).

Be careful when talking about dish size in Spain and Portugal. They both give the vertical dimension when talking about off-set dishes as it "bigs" them up. Here in the UK, and the rest of world in fact, we measure horizontally as this is truer measure of a dish's capability. Thus a 1m dish for us becomes a 1.15m (or near) dish in Spain.
