hey all, got the dm500 and was told i can allign my sat using my laptop with to find the perfect signal streigth. It was all set up before but now i moved houses. Im pretty new at this as a friend set it up for me. Hope u can help..:)

Have you had a look at the Idiot's Guide? Not sure how a computer can help align a dish.
 
log on too the web interface of the dream box then though it you can get a signal strengh bar, that you can use to set the dish, if your wireless you can then take your laptop to your dish and use it that way.

on mine its _http://DREAMBOX-IP/sf.html
 
Go to the dreambox web interface, click on control, then click on satfinder on the left hand side.

Select the satellite and transponder you want and a popout window will appear with signal strength + quality bars.


I'm not sure how much use it is for aligning a dish, I didn't have the guts to take my shiny laptop up a ladder. One hand holding the laptop, one moving the dish and one holding the ladder was never going to work :D

hello again. i tried to locate the interface site, but couldnt find it. I wasnt the one who set up my DreamB so maybe thats why. How do I access it? I tried looking at the idiots guide, but couldnt find it. thank again:)
