80cm dish pointed at Hotbird, Samsung DSB-A300W

Hi guys, sorry for this possibly being such a lame question, Ive looked for the answers but cant find them.

I have a Samsung DSB-A300W currently on a 80cm dish pointed at hobird.
All being well Im moving to a flatnext week and I know there is a communal skydish with ariel point in the flat itself for Sky.

Ive noticed on the Samsung box channel scanning that there is the choice to scan Astra. My question is, will I be able to pickup any channels by simply connecting my box upto the ariel point, or will this render my Samsung box useless for the time being

Thanks in advance, sorry if this is in the wrong area :)

You will be able to receive the free to air channels from Astra 28.2 East.

Welcome to the forum HanEbull

From the point of view of receiving Hotbird yes completely useless, you should however be able to pick up FTA channels on 28.2 Astra 2 using Samsung but alas nothing else, so apart from The basic BBC ITV etc unless you like shopping channels your reception of anything else will be restricted.

astra 28.2 also has nice "bubble hits"- music with no advertisements.
