I have to agree.

Watched a couple the other day and wished I hadn't.

All it did was remind me just how brilliant the original Classic series were.
 
I am looking forward to all the American ones - Big Bang Theory being top of the list but there are many others.
 
I avoid any and all US stuff like the very plague.

Much prefer home-grown programmes.

The remake of the dads army film was the biggest load of tripe.

Itv are rumoured to be remaking the carry on films, I won't be watching them.

I will stick to the old ones :)
 
Did get to watch goodnight sweetheart, but had to pass the new bbc test

I do have a to licence so I clicked yes.
 
Not tried catch-up yet, but the same warning, re. live tv, has been around since the Olympics started (Are they over yet?).

Although I have a Licence, I pressed the "I Don't" option to see what would happen.

Assumed it would set a cookie or some other trickery, but no. Simply refreshed and carried on regardless.

No teeth.

Yet.
 
I have to agree generally ...never mess with classic UK sitcoms ..
..and the US basically don't have the same sense of humour ...
though there are exceptions ...like Seth Macfarlane...
Love Family Guy ...tollerate American Dad for the occasional laugh ...
..and I do like Big Bang Theory and Silicon Valley
but apart from these few exceptions I much prefer homegrown comedy ...including stuff we may never see again un-edited ..
Like ..Till Death Us Do Part
Never Mind The Quality ...Feel The Width ...
...and _some_ eps of Steptoe and Son..
Anyone Else think PC has ruined comedy ? ...or is it just me ..

Of more modern British Comedy ...
Nighty Night ...made me both cringe and larrrf
Inbetweeners was cool ...till they tried the big screen..


There is a new black comedy showing atm ...which has tweaked my funny bone ..
Fleabag anyone ?

..and Till Death Us Do Part ...
The best by far was the latter ..
Mainly because they stuck to the same format ...and didn't pull any punches ..
I give that one 9 out of 10
..will never replace the original of course ....mainly becuase of the cast ..Warren Dandy Tony and Una..
..but a fair attempt nonetheless

There is a fine line between pushing it to far from the storyline.

The dads army film is a "classic" example, the old one was class, the new one is :-toilet

When is the remake of steptoe & son on?

Not saying I didn't enjoy the other remakes Chris ...
They were ok for what they were ...and acted well enough ...but if you remember the original TDDUP ...you'll see what I mean ..
Johnny Speight was a master of his craft ...so really not appreciated when they try to re-design a format ..

Regardless of subject material ..a lot of which infuriates the PC brigade these days ..
I have but one rule for comedy ..
You are not allowed to laugh at others ...unless you can laugh at yourself ...and are prepared for others to extract your urine without getting offended ..

Didn't get to it last night, but it's on my list for tonight.

Does look good thou.
 
Watched the Alf garnet episode, and I throughly enjoyed it.

One of the better remakes. But I guess the bbc has to make it "PC"
