Site slow...not loading pages

Talking to a couple of members over the weekend, and they experience the same...the site most days starts to run slowly, pages take an age to load, and sometimes not at all. Anyone else the same?

I've cleared the last posts, yes the site is having issues.

( suspect it's all the "guests" crawling over the site. As I type this I see that there are 6 members: and 13,019 guests.

There are times when it must be considerably worse as I have had refreshes timing out completely.

I’ve seen on other forums that implementing reCAPTCHA or Cloudflare has worked for them.

I've had these a couple of times recently but they're either not effective or they aren't served to all the 'guests'.

On a similar site, Google reCAPTCHA caused the number of connected users to drop from over 73,000 to minus of 50.
Other forums have implemented IP-based filtering, while allowing users to request that the administrator unblock their IP address if it gets blocked.

I have no access anymore to the forum satclub.pl anymore from my home, presumably because of regional IP-blocking. However, as I have no access to the website anymore, I have no idea how to contact the administrator.

So that looks like a good solution, requesting the administrator, but you'd have to find an email-address...??
