This year, in October, the horse lovers are holding their breathes, to watch the exciting moments as Sky Sports has promised to bring the 3D effect for the telecast of the show, Horse of the Year 2011! This is the first time an attempt to broadcast this event in 3D is being taken by the media, and it would also be the first ever time, an event has been broadcasted live in 3D form.

Sky Sports 3D channel is promising two nights of live shows to the viewers, along with the highlights of the Show Jumping Championships that were held before. Sky Sports is taking all measures to make this attempt a grand success. Reports state that the channel has already made a special jump which has been designed especially for this purpose. The channel authority is quite sure that this 3D effect for the game would bring about a total change in the concept of show jumping, and that the contest would be a trend setter for the coming years. The Director of the Channel, John Cassy claims that it would bring into the attention of the viewers, the exact skills and talents that are required in the riders, to win the game.

This show began in the year 1949, and was first staged at Harringay, in North London. Later, it shifted the grounds from Harringay to the Wembley Arena and was conducted there, from then on, for about 43 years! In 2001, the grounds were again shifted and changed to NEC Arena in Birmingham. The Sky 3D channel, though haven’t been long in the industry, is today a good competitor and provider of sports specials. It was launched in the year 2010 and since then, it has been widely available all across UK, and has been broadcasting many League matches.

The event is to be held on the 8[SUP]th[/SUP] of October, 2011, at 20.00 hours, and on the 9[SUP]th[/SUP] of October, 2011, at 20.30 hours. The facility to view the program in the 3D effect would be available only for those people who have subscribed to the HD + Sky package. You are also expected to have a Television that supports the 3D features. The channel has set foot onto the broadcast of this exciting horse show, after they have proven their skills in providing the viewers with the best football games as well as the highlights of important games. The channel is expected to cover the whole of the event, including the dressage as well as the Puissance competitions. According to a technical specialist in the channel, Robin Broomfield, shots that are taken at low angles, with numerous images on the frame, are the best to provide good 3D effects, and this is expected to be the technique used by the Sky, to get this show to the viewers on a live 3D effect. Never to mention, if this attempt succeeds, BSKYB would be the proud owners of a big trend changing event!
