hi,

i am living in london where i am currently receive the dutch tv channels NED1, NED2, NED3, TL 4,5,7,8 , SBS6, NET5 and veronica through my astra satelite by means of my dish plus receiver. The council now would like to supply a communal dish with SKY as it against the lease to have your own. Could anyone please advise if i am still able to receive these dutch channels and have the provided Sky at the same time?

Afraid not, Marcel. Sky is on a different satellite, unless you and your neighbours could maybe lobby the council to upgrade the system to a multi sat installation

Hopefully the council will take notice and provide a feed from 19.2E as well. Failing that, if you have a south facing window/balcony/terrace or whatever, you may be able to put up your own dish inside/outside(hidden from view).

Yes, that is a given, as pointing anywhere else would not be receiving Astra 19.2, what Topper is asking, is where in relation to your apartment and windows. If you have a South facing window, it could go inside.

Failing that, if you speak to the contractor who is doing the install, he may add an offset arm and separate feed for you on the communal dish, or perhaps even install a 2 satellite multiswitch, but that could work out expensive. How many flats are there.?

The dish is mount to the wall. The wall is south facing and is located next to my bedroom window. Do you reckon i can place the dish inside my bedroom and still get reception. And if so could you please adivse what equipment i need. this might be a cheaper option then the offset arm. what do you reckon?

Yes a very much cheaper option.

You can buy a tripod for dish mounting _http://www.outdoorbits.com/satellite-dish-tripod-stand-p-134.html, I'm sure that one of our supporting advertisers does something similar, yes http://www.dcmdirect.co.uk do one, it is under Caravan satellite. You will need to check to see that it works first of course, but if the window is big enough and facing due South, it should do. You can also get flat panel dishes, they are expensive, but would still be cheaper than anything done with the main dish and you can of course take it with you when you leave.

You may wish to consider one of the following dishes marcey.

The first is the Arcon sweety 43cm, supposedly has the performance of a 60cm offset.

The second is the Kathrein BAS 62

The third is a Metronic transparent dish, they go up to 85cm.

The arcon is about£100, the Kathrein £130 ish and the clear dish about half that.
