sky box problems

hi to all,
wanted to start a new thread and couldn't do it.
have a problem for all.
sky box is going into stand by for no reason.
the stand by option was turned off.
swaped boxes and both do the same.
can not be dish too small its 4 meter in dia.
can not be power flop its on a computer ups 350 watt and there was no power failer.
i unpluged the maines for 3 to 5 min and pluged it in several times and it stayed on.

i am receiving itv 1 in the others section and loaded 12.402 ghz v and have the box on itv 1 24/7.
all the cables and lines to the multi switch are ok no brakes in any line and no loose connections.
he global SMC which turns the boxes on automaticlly will no longer work because we cao not get itv1 on channel 103 but in the others section and because of the going green option the others that was option 6 now became opt 7 and will not work.

no bad weather here over a week, the itv1 will run for 2 or 3 days and go to stand by even with the UPS running this decoder.

the ups runs at 178 volts when the mains kick off.
but being that i did some tests and it ran every time i am stumped.

any help i will be greatfull.

its a normal panasonic 31 model.
no sky plus here.
it runs sometimes 1 or 3 days than its in standby mode.
the ups is running just this one box.
the smc controler runs other boxes and there is no problem because it rests automaticlly.
we can not pick up channel 103 here so i added it in the other channels but since sky went green and added an extra option the smc will count to 6 and not to 7 and will not reset the box at all.
the automatic stand by was deactivated and there was no mains loss but 2 boxes i tested goes to stand by for no reason.
i reset it 24 hours ago and its still running.

i called global in the uk in december and they say there will be no more upgrades to the smc and they may phase it out but when is unknown.alph:)

Is your box a $ly+ or an ordinary Digibox?

The easiest way to fix it would be to get hold of an ftv card registered in one of the half dozen ITV sub regions that broadcast on 12402V, then ITV will appear on 103

i never heard of this and how does this work.
will the card make the box load and default to 12.402v
and default automaticly to this freq. and place this on 103.
here in naples astra2d were all the bbc and itv can not be received with a 4meter dish but a default itv comes in at 12.402 v no problem.
if you have more detail on this please send it.

The recent software updates which included auto standby as an added menu option were faulty. It was supposed to have been fixed. Sounds like your box hasn't had the correct update. At some point it may right itself when there is another update. For the moment there is not much you can do if the box is an older model.

You need a Freesatfromsky card - these give access to the Five family of channels, Sky 3 and Setanta Sports News, plus regionalise the BBC & ITV settings on the box.

The easiest place to get one is probably ebay, but you need one from of these 6 ITV sub regions:

ITV 1 Meridian South East
ITV 1 Meridian North
ITV 1 Anglia TV West
ITV 1 Yorkshire TV East
ITV 1 Tyne Tees TV South
ITV 1 Central TV South West

As these are the ones transmitted on the widebeam.

However - remember theres a card swap imminent so its worth hanging on - the old cards will cease to work in a few weeks time

If you have a uk contact in the correct area then just get them to buy a 20 quid card new from freesatfromsky.com
