sky+ cant record

hi ive just got hold of a sky+ box im only using 1 cable at the moment but it still wont let me pause or record what im watching,i get a message saying contact sky to upgrade your subsciption,but i have a minimum subscription,is it because the card is from a normal sky box and not for this sky+box
 
Yes, you will need to phone Sky to enable the recording function. The best you will be able to do with only one feed is live pause, I have found that full recordings tend to fail without the second feed connected.
 
will it cost money to enable it,will the card still work in a normal box after,the card isnt mine i just borrow it when the owner is away lol,
 
When you ring sky and tell them you have a sky+ box you will be given the option of paying an extra £10 a month, or upgrade your subs to include a premium channel, such as Sports or films etc in which case the £10 is waved

but if you do this, they will send an engineer round to install a new LNB and cable to your box from the dish, meaning you receive 2 seperate signals, so you can record one channel while watching another ;)
 
No charge for Sky+ recording function now Red, hasn't been for a while now as long as you have a subscription. :)

If the card isn't yours then it would have to be paired to the new box for the Sky+ to work, probably not a good idea, as you will have to then change it back afterwards. You will also need the owner's password and subscription details before they will do anything.
 
and don't forget to send them the return plane tickets to the Canary Islands. :-csmile

that will teach me for not reading properly :)

as far as i know, pairing a card with a box is only needed when you have premium channels.
for instance, my card downstairs (sky+) works in my box upstairs but Sports doesnt work.... same other way round.

so you only have minimum package, so the problem probably lies with the second coax not being installed like Rolf said above.

neighbour was here as i did this...

he suggested sticking his normal sky card in one of my sky+ boxes
we did...
the recording feature didnt work anymore :(

just in case this theory needing prooving... :D

so its definatly not possible without contacting sky, seeing as you only borrowed the card, i wouldnt bother
so do as Rolf said and ignore me :D
 
thanks you been very helpfull even though i have a sky + box thay i cant + lol,might aswell plug my normal box back in and sell the sky +
