sky card activation

My Satellite Setup
1980s 1.5m offset dish, single output black ultra on a homemade sturdy mount, getting all channels 24/7 from sky with a pace digibox but no subscription so only bbc1,2 itv etc.

hi guys, lots of help needed. I have just got to my holiday house in Ibiza and my sky ftv is playing up. I have a white card and it is allowing me to listen to radio 1 etc but no tv. The message I get is that it is the wrong card for the box. Seems strange that it will allow me to listen to the radio stations but not tv.
I am guessing I have to contact sky to reactivate the card, is that correct?
If so, and here is the major problem...I have to get the missus to do it back iin the Uk whilst I am here in Ibiza and unless I have all the info she will need it won't happen.
Can anyone supply me with the phone number I need to ring and the information they will ask for. ie is it the system info such as-

Manufacturer
model
version number
serial number
viewing card number
op syatem number
eps software

Also will it matter that she is calling sky as the card could be in my name but we live together at the registered card address in the UK.

You'll need personal details, account password, viewing card number, version number, serial number and possibly model & O/s version.

The radio stations are all fta. The clear tv stuff should still work as well.
 
How long was the box and card left switched off for? And how long have you had it switched on for so far?

It may take a few days but cards in this situation usually get updated eventually.
 
I was last here dec 14th and everything was working fine. The box was left unplugged, currently listening to radio 1, do you think it will sort itself out if I leave it on the radio station for a while?
i am here for a week on my own so tv would be nice:)
 
Its probably missed its authorisations as its been unplugged.

Leave it for a few hours - it may spring back to life.
 
thanks fellas, you know your stuff, its back on although no bbc, probably need to re cellotape my lnb into a different position! Will try and upload a photo of that for your amusement.
Would I be right in thinking that if I invested in a freesat box I could ditch the sky box and card and not have to go through this every time. Without having to pay a subscription to sky I would also be able to watch endless repeats of top gear, that would drive my missus mad! Am I right?
Oh yes, and itv would be on the list rather than under 'other channels' as it is on sky?
 
you did it again chaps, tv is working again! I am learning something new every time I come out here so thanks.

Sadly (?!) Dave is not Free To Air on Satellite, despite it being so on Freeview.

No Sky sub, no Dave.
 
Ah thats good news rewdan :)

Its only worth investing in a Freesat box if you have decent reception of the clear Astra 2D channels - all the BBC ITV C4 & C5 channels used on Freesat are on the narrow beam Astra 2D. You wont get Fiver / Five US on Freesat if those channels are important to you.

The other possibility of course is just to take the French box card home with you and stick it in your own Sky box over night for a few evenings before you venture back to France. You will soon find out its ready top go when the ftv channels come back on.
 
thanks for that, I have learnt even more. I will stick to what I have for the moment...unless I get a huge dish!
