Anybody else having reports of digiboxes going into standby ? (auto standby feature turned off) I have had a few and it seems its the Pace DS430 thats only doing it.

havent heard of it going off if the standby is turned off.
did you save the changes.
if so there may be a problem with the box or there was a big power flop were you are.

Hmm - theres been a few reports of odd behaviour by 430's over on the DS forum in the last few days.

Its from different customers. I have one customer with 4 digiboxes in her house and the 2 paces go to standby early evening. The other 2 ,Panasonics, do not. Another customer with same pace has same problem. My friend has 3 customers with same problem, started about a week ago.

a few calls today from people about it - even when i was at someones house who was saying their 430 has been playing up recently!!!!
- all had 430s...
thought it may be somehting to do with using new cards in boxes and not pairing them up, but has been doing it on a few paired cards also....

wonder if sly will roll back the software llike they did witht he sky+ software a few months ago...or is it a ploy to get people to call up a premium rate number.....

Even with freesat card out it goes off. There is another older issue with the 430's about them losing channels stored in "other channels" which is a commonly used feature over here for storing stronger ITV's etc

My own DS430N is behaving entirely properly.

O/S 1.2S4FJ

EPG 3.7.6

FSFS White Card

Ah.

I note that "upgrades" are in the process of being rolled out to:

O/S 1.2S4FM

EPG 3.8.8

I await it nervously ..................

Similar Problem here too. Customer asked me to look at his box that turns itself off at different times. Its a 430 too, so at least I can tell him its not just him.

Cheers

Just had a panicky call from a fellow villager ...........

"My Sky Box won't change channel, turn off or owt else!

Rebooted it, checked function restored and checked firmware status: It had received an overnight "upgrade" to O/S 1.2S4FM EPG 3.8.8 (as above)

Don't know yet whether it will misbehave and turn itself off or not as it's on soak test right now.

But the box is a "Refurbished" Grundig of uncertain vintage, not a Pace DS430N.

So expect problems across the board as this new firmware continues to be rolled out )(-red

I suspect the reason why DS430Ns were highlighted earlier will be due to the roll-out schedule: As I recall from previous updates, they seem to be done in batches by Box Type/Model and by other undefined (to us!) parameters).

Yeas but some digiboxes never recover from software issues, like the excellent Panasonic tds30and the red light problem(where you have to unplug it every time) from a software upgrade years ago. It was never fixed.

I thought my PACE DS430N was on its way out cos for the last couple of weeks its also been switching to standby despite the function being switched off.
At least I know Im not alone now!

If it was c a b l e box then satellite receivers should be safe as they don't use the RC codes that satellite receivers do.

I've been having the same problem. I have three different boxes. the Sky+ box is fine as is the 2600 but the 430n switches off constantly and then you have to wait for it to reboot. at least I know that it is a general problem with the firmeware and not my box dying!!

Well its been quite a while now and I dont know what to tell customers. Wait and see or buy a new digibox ?

My Sky + box sometimes just does nothing and I have to unplug main and wait for it to start again.

I assume these Pace DS430's are still switching off ?

My DS430N was off this morning ............... rebooted and found I'd finally got 3.8.8.

Must have suspended the roll-out earlier in the year after the problems.

Let's hope it works fine now. They've had 7 months since all the adverse reports to sort it out.
