I have a sky dish and a motorised but most
of the time my motorised is on 1w.
Can i use my sky dish to access freesat-
as in used some sort of treble lnb, 2 to
the sky+ box and 1 cable to my technomate
up stairs.

Hope this is understandable---up to 6am
watching the boxing on 1w.

thanks

Yes, of course.

Get yourself a Quad Output LNB (less than a tenner from eBay etc) and that'll do it nicely.

Then you'll just need to think about how to switch between the Motorised Dish and the 28E Dish as regards your Technomate: A 2 port DiSEqC Switch might do it, if the TM allows Motor Control and LNB switching to be set differently for different Satellites (Some of my Receivers do, some don't). If not, a simple A/B switch would be fine.

There is also something called a Priority Switch which might be of use - but I have no experience using them, so best leave that to others to comment on.

I thought it was along these lines....

So treble lnb fitted to my sky dish, 2 cables to
the sky+ and 1 upstairs to my technomate.
You mention switching, would it not just be a
case of being able to watch sky downstairs
and freesat upstairs.
Just found the switching part a bit confusing, i
could have my sky box off but still recieve
freesat through my t/mate. ?

BUT i find it all a challenge and an enjoyable 1,
i remember when i got my dish installed...it
was like YESSS i did it...lol.

Quad LNB - you can't get Trebles. Leave one Output unused.

AS your TM only has one socket for connecting a Dish etc, and you generally use it on the other Dish, you will either need to find a way of switching between the cable from the Motorised Dish and the dedicated Feed from the Sky Dish. The clumsy way is to physically disconnect one cable then connect the other at the back of the Technomate.

The sensible way is to use one of the methods referred to earlier.

Whichever of these methods you use, the Sky Box and TM can both be on at the same time, and both looking at different Channels on 28E. There is no need at all to turn off the Sky Box as each LNB Output is totally independent.

It is, of course, entirely possible that I've misinterpreted what you're wanting, so I suggest you wait for another couple of replies from other Forum Members :)

Sometimes Diseqc switches do work OK, to switch between a motor and an LNB on another dish. I had it working recently with a Icecrypt receiver and an Octagon 2-way diseqc. I didn't try that particular switch on my Technomate.

When I originally tried to do what you want a while back, my TM1000 and the switch I had at the time didn't work. Placing the switch after the motor did however, but the downside is that the motor still moves unless you edit the channel list and disable the motor for 28E using the TMEditor or other compatible TM channel editor.

So let me get this straight.......if i fit a quad lnb to
my sky dish i wont be able to watch freesat upstairs
and sky downstairs from the sky dish.
Hang on--idiotic question time--sky and freesat are
both on the same sat.

I intend buying another box for my downstairs giving
me 1 box directly to my motorised system-solo.

1 sky+ box.....to the sky dish
1 t/mate.......to the sky dish....for upstairs.

I know i know my questions may sound crazy but like
fitting my 1st dish once you grasp it its no problem.

Of course you can watch both - at the same time, if you wish, as already stated.

The issue is how you propose to operate your TM: It can only take one cable from a Dish/Dishes at once.

I intend buying another box for my downstairs giving
me 1 box directly to my motorised system-solo.

1 sky+ box.....to the sky dish
1 t/mate.......to the sky dish....for upstairs.

With a Quad LNB you can also happily feed the additional downstairs box.

Any or all of these boxes can be in use at any time.

This is, and never has been, the issue: The issue is how you swop (I'm avoiding the word "switch" !) the TM between the feed from the motorised dish and the feed from the Sky Dish.

BTW, your TM gets FTA, not Freesat. Freesat is, like Sky, a system that pulls together all the relevant Channels onto a fixed EPG, together with a few other bells and whistles.

Your TM will get all the FTA Channels, not just those who have paid for inclusion on the Freesat EPG.

So you don't want to connect your Technomate to a motorised dish and a fixed dish then? You are going to buy a separate Technomate/Other receiver to connect to the Sky dish?

Very easy then, just connect it to a spare port on the Sky dish quad LNB, job done.

..Just to confuse the issue ..
There's always the 'Clunk' 'Clunk' Mechanical switch to consider for selecting the dish on the TM.
Easier to understand ...but not as sophisticted as auto switching.
'Ducks & runs for cover'

No need for shame - I mentioned it at the end of the penultimate Para of Post 2.

I have two of those A/B jobbies and they are excellent - My wife picked up the operating procedure in less than ten lessons.

:-rofl2:-rofl2:-rofl2

..Careful she doesn't read that m8 ....or it wont just be me running for cover

;)

I have to admit they are mighty useful ...
I use them to switch out of my system to feed the pci cards in the pc ..
..particularly as the insertion loss is minimal.

On the FTA do you get any HD ?

I have 3 rooms i need put good tv in and already
have my motorised system for my living room.

Cant decide whether to up upgrade my technomate
and put that in a room and buy a freesat box for the
other bedroom.
Or buy 2 freesat boxes and leave my technomate
in my living room.
Any wise ideas for 200 quid.

If the FTA gets HD then i'd upgrade my technomate
to get HD in my main room. All we have left is 1 sat
with decent sport and a few movie channels but in
Scotland 1w is weak signal but plenty watchable.

The boxing on it last night was 4 great fights and on
to about 6 this morning, exactly the reason i bought
it for.....

So brief....3 rooms 2 dishes 1 box...need 2 boxes
and feeds to 2 rooms..from sky dish.

On 28E , the only FTA HD are BBC HD, ITV HD (very part time) and the pointless Luxe TV.

Accross the other satellites there are a few FTA HD, I did go through the list a while back. there wasn't that manyas most are encrypted.
