Hi tech experts :)

Is there any chance to view sky encrypted channels from my sky viewing card on my vu+ duo2? In other words, can I transfer my sky viewing card from my sky box into my vu+ duo2 and watch encrypted channels?

Thanks

In theory you should be able to use your card, in the VU+, to open the SD encrypted channels, that you have subscribed for, but it isn't part of your contract, and you will not get the HD channels.
You are probably better of sticking with your official Sky receiver.

The thing is that I want to use my vu+ duo2 to watch TV :) So is there any chance to do that or not? Maybe some linux software?

Your Vu+ already has linux on it :D

Yes you can use your card. You will get the standard definition channels that you subscribe to, the fta ones & no more - so if you just have the family pack dont expect to get the sport & movies. And dont expect the pay HD channels to work at all - the fta ones will still work of course. Sky is slowly tightening the noose on using cards outside of their own receivers - the HD channels got locked down a while back..

I know it's got linux already :) I was thinking of some kind of software/plugin under linux to 'make' the card working in another receiver (encrypted channels) - oscam or something. I know that some encrypted cards that are paired with specific receivers can be used with other receivers after getting their box key or something. Unfortunately I don't know anything about this.

The latest software used by most satellite broadcasters does not allow HD to be displayed on an independent sat receiver it is a very secure system so you have no chance of watching encrypted HD via 28.2 east on your VU+

The future of satellite broadcasting is very tight footprints  + very secure encryption :( paired cards with receivers there is no way around this so you might as well get used to it as it will eventually be impossible to use any card in an unofficial box.:D

What exactly are you hoping for sectoid? If its to have everything open on your card forget it - you get whatever SD channels the card is authorised for by Sky - nothing more.

I have hotbird 13E, astra 19.2E and astra 28.2E on one dish and was hoping to have access to all FTA channels from 13E and 19.E and also all encrypted channels from 28.2E (as I have a sky viewing card - family pack) on 1 receiver, which is vu+ duo2. I wanted to transfer the sky viewing card from the sky box to the vu+ to use only the vu+, but if it not possible, I'll have to use both the sky box for 28.2E encrypted channels and vu+ for the FTA channels from 13E and 19.2E.

Too bad :( too many remotes in my house :)

Thanks for your help, anyway!

Hey, it's me again :)
I don't want to start a new thread so I'll ask here. It's about a sky HD receiver.

I have a satellite setup composed of 3 quattro lnbs on one dish for 13E, 19.2E and 28.2E. These are connected to a multiswitch and then the signal goes to my vu duo2 receiver.

Recently I signed a contract with sky and was hoping to connect the sky HD box to the above setup but it turns out the sky box doesn't get any signal. So the installer had to install another dish on my house just for the 28.2E. Rrrrrr:mad::-lol

So my question is, why the sky box won't see the signal from my multiswitch setup and is there anyway to 'fix' that?

I also have a freesat tuner in my TV and I cannot get any signal via multiswitch.

Thanks

S_Y receivers won't operate a disecq switch to select the appropriate sat, so you'd have to arrange for the 28 E dish to be the default selection; does that help?

Your Astra 2 LNB should have been connected to inputs 1 on your multiswitch.
