What format does the Sky+ box record onto the HDD?

Can it be transfered onto computer in anyway or is it recorder encrypted?

All it does is record the encrypted satellite stream gameboy.

It uses a file system that cannot be read by a PC (that I know of) and even if it could it's unlikely that you would be able to do anything useful with the data because of the encryption.

If you recorded a full HD of programmes then cancelled your subscription would they still play?

Or does the channel you recorded still have to be active on your card for the decryption still to work?

You have paid for them - the answer may be interesting.

Take your card out and try, I believe that it doesn't work. :)

Yes, you need to still be subscribing to the channel to view any recordings of it.

And the next time they change the card for a new series then, after a short interval, all the ones recorded under the old series will also be unwatchable.
