Is a Sky+ box as good as my panasonic 30 for fringe reception. Or may be better?
Thinking of switching - is there a particular sky+ model to go for?

Hi there masondj3,

There are two versions of the Sky+ box (well as far as I know there are not more, perhaps someone will correct me) the first, older one, in a direct comparison is not as good as the Panasonic 30 for fringe reception, however it is better than the original pace 2200.

The second Sky+ box is notably better than the first one for fringe reception, but I haven’t seen any tests of it against the Panasonic 30.

There are a couple threads in the Sky+ section that also cover fringe reception so it might be worth having a look in there, if you haven’t already.

My v2 Sky+ box is considerably better than my Pace 2200. Connected to the same LNB, I see at least 20% higher signal quality.

I know of someone in Moscow who has Sky+. I believe he's happy with the performance.

Various reports indicate that pace sky+ (v2) is an improvement over panny 30.

Can't compare directly with Panasonic 30 but certainly Pace 2600 is better than Sky +

It holds the signal that bit more with a 1.8 Prodelin, Invacom 0.3LNB in Madrid.
