Hi, we are having issues with SKy + and HD which affects our audio sometimes what sounds like packet losses and sometimes complete loss.

I think the problem lies within the Audio/DAC buffer and would like to know what types of buffer are used on these boxes and what buffer size ?

We do not have the booklets for our boxes but any info will be helpful.

Thanks.

The user manuals/handbooks are very low tech, so are unlikely to mention anything about buffers.

I don't have Sky HD, but can't say that I've had any problems with audio on my Sky+.

Have you checked the signal from your dish?

I actually work for one of the uplinkers to sky, we are having problems with two channels. When we attach our transport stream analysers we find no errors at all on any of the PIDs the PAT, PTS ect ect are all clear. We have been working on it for months and have came to the conclusion that it has to be something to do with the difference in the new boxes. Obviously the later boxes are tuned to decode AC3 and such like which would lead us to believe that the boxes would have slight differences in DACs and Buffers. The symtoms shown indicates in my opinion an overunning of the buffer in the audio decryption, I suspect that the channels we are trying to Uplink to the Sky platform have vairing bitrates with bursts causing buffer overrun.

My only problem is that Sky arn't the most sharing with their information and that the box manufacturers don't publish too much information. So I thought the best thing would be to ask the real experts here :)
