Sky + not playing back

Answer: Try not record stuff you can't receive anyway.

EPG data is transmitted from a high-band transponder, hence why everything appears normal in the 'TV Guide'; however, its only until you select a channel like BBC, ITV, Hallmark, Disney ... that you will see the 'No Signal' message. The actual channel signal may come from any of the four satellites co-located at 28.2°E. They all have different footprint patterns, the worst being Astra 2D.

I haven't got a clue about dish sizes, but, I'd hazzard a guess that an antennae array like than seen in the film 'Contact' might be about right for Astra 2DO-no

I have been trying to record channels I Know I get. The "live pause" works but I don't even have the "Instant rewind" function in the menu. (see photos).
The other strange thing is the sound just keep on keeping on, even when the box is in stand by mode.

So how dose one force a download? or should it have done it by it's self??
 
It should do it by itself Robbie, but if not, then unplug at the wall, the whilst holding in the backup button on the front of the unit, switch back on at the wall. Keep the backup button pressed until all the lights come on and if you are connected by scart, the flash screen comes up on the TV.

Of course you must appreciate that if the box is faulty and cannot see the default transponder properly, it may not download properly.
 
Download is happening. I'm really into Attachments at the moment.
 
O.K, No luck on the download but the Default transponder is 11778 V. I thought my dish could see that but I stuck it into "ADD CHANNELS" and guess what!!! " NO SIGNAL"
I thought that transponder carried Sky News. wich I get.
 
Try one of the others as a default, Sky news in't on 11778 as far as I know.
 
No, you are right, that's a north beam. can I use any transponder?
 
I'm not sure whether it'll work with any transponder, but you can try, it certainly won't do any worse than it has already. :)
 
Changed the default transponder to 12207 V and did another download, no luck, except now when I try to record I get a message " System Fault, Sky+ recording and playback are unavailable, call sky on blar blar blar for assistance". But at least I have change and change is good.
 
Changed default transponders a few times and did a few downloads, nothing. Look like I got a lemon, I'm just going to have to live with it till I can get a V2 box. I am still better of the the old Panasonic then use to freeze all the time.

I seem to remember that there were a lot of problems with updates when the boxes couldn't see the default transponder. Don't suppose you know anyone with a much bigger dish?
 
Not in Egypt, only in Cyprus, I only know of 2 other people with Sky in Egypt and we all have the same size dish.

Yer, it's not a big problem. I will get there some day. Living in Egypt, you tend to get very use to thing not working as they should and not to stress over it.

I dunno why. I did another download this morning on the off chance it might work but the box wouldn't turn back on, just the red stand by light and the remote light when I pressed the on button on the remote, didn't turn green and didn't turn on, unplugged it for 10 mints and still wouldn't turn on, I thought I would have to go back to the old Panasonic box that freezes up all the time, I put the old HDD drive back and did one last download before chucking it in the bin,,,,,, and it came alive, not only that I have instant rewind AND RECORD AND PLAY BACK!!!

hey cool, I thought I'd mention software as I believe certain elements have been updated to allow you to watch programming whilst you don't have a signal. But now you have everything.

Should've whacked in a bigger disk while you had it open mind ;)
