Sky+ Operation

I've just received my first Sky+ box and have popped in an 80Mb drive. Now I find I can't even test it without subscribing to Sky+!

Any suggestions?

Ah the sky's the limit, but only if Rupe say's so.

Seems a shame to have a Sky+ box and not subscribe.

I believe that not only do you have to have sub but you have to make sure that the plusbox is kept connected to your dish so that it can receive a constant stream of "keep going" messages.

Without these messages, even if you have paid your subs, you won't be able to view your recordings.

Does anyone know if this also applies to FTA recordings such the Beeb?
