Well an Aerial socket is used for Terrestrial TV.
A Sky box needs a connection to a Dish aligned to the 28E position - do you have one?
The Card is defunct, by the way - but that shouldn't stop you getting all the Free To Air Channels.

I have a sky dish outside my house and a cable that connects to the socket. There are two points on the socket board: one which sticks out and another that's flush with the small square plate on the wall. Hope I'm describing this sufficiently well. :-/

Well,if the one that sticks out looks like the one on the back of the digibox,then its the right one.You should be using a screw type (F) connector on both. Are you connected to input 1 on the digibox ?

hello, seen your picture and looking at it it is hard to say what is satellite and what is areal.
usualy there are 2 like you have,one is threded like the back of a satellite box and one is normal areal.
here you have 2 normal areals and it is hared to know which one is what.
here is some of the problems.
dish may not be aligned to sky uk.
lnb on fromt of dish may be bad or connector may be rusted
satellite may be running to another part of the house and not where you want it to be.
if there is 1 line from the dish and multiple plates like you show in the picture then for sure one line can not activate everywhere.
the satellite signal can not activate multiple ports without multiple output lnb on the dish.

How about going into the menu,select signal test and try one socket,then the other ?
Also ,if the box has a blue card in it then it is probably on old software and will need updating.We assume the box is not faulty ?

Im not receiving all the channels mentioned on the SKY FTA channel list. Some of them give a message saying I need a new viewing card.
How do I get my hands on one of those? (Since im not a subscriber, that is.)

You need to go into services on the Sky digibox, then picture and make sure that it is set to 16:9, then using your TV remote, play with the picture size until everything fits in, pan and scan may be the best option.
