Using the sky remote I entered the text menu, the highlighted item continued to scroll through the menu's and I couldn't enter anything or exit so I switched the sky box off. The remote now appears to be dead, I've tried new batteries without any succes.

Is it something I've done via pressing a key sequence or just a case of buying a new remote?

thanks for any posts,

Malcolm.

sounds like the scroll down button is stuck.when you put in new batteries is the red light on?

They are quite easy to strip down and clean. Also, one edge of a rubber button can get wedged under the plastic face, permanently sending a signal from the remote until its freed.

When the batteries are pushed in the red light on the remote lights for a split second then nothing.

Will open it up and see if anything looks odd and give it another go.

Cheers,

Malcolm

Thanks Zorba and Benidormgary, went to open remote up and spotted button was stuck, problem solved.

For future ref. there is one screw under the battery cover are there more hidden screws and how do you open up the remote?

Thanks again,
Malcolm

CLEANING NORMAL SKY REMOTES.
The one in the batt compartment is the one to remove. Its usually very small, and set quite deep, and can be awkward to remove. Its not much bigger than the ones that hold your glasses together, but without removing it,youll never get the remote apart.(Ive had to drill one or two out)Once you do remove it,slide the front egg-shaped transmitter"window"forward and away from you(no screws, but a very tight fit,and sometimes needs the help of a small screwdriver or something). Now the 2 main parts of the remote can be prised apart, again with the help of a screwdriver, exposing the board(only one),and the rubber pads. The board seems quite sturdy, with only one or two components on it.I clean the board with the agent you clean tape heads with, but the rubber pads and plastic body parts get a good scrubbing in hot soapy water and rinsing, and allowed to dry thouroughly.AFAIK,that one single damn screw is the key to getting them apart.:)
