I would be interested to hear from anyone with a SKY FAMILY PACKAGE or similar exactly what channels they are actually picking up 24/7 in southern Spain (I have a 1.3m dish here in Granada) so that I can decide whether it is worth laying out for such a package or remaining with the FTA/FTV stuff. Thanks a lot.

Near Marbella a 1.2m offset dish will pick up everything except some of Astra 2B North beam. Off the top of my head that includes Channel 5, a few of the Sky Movies channels and quite a lot of the UKTV +1 channels (the non +1 channels are mostly OK)

Have a look at this list http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/skyuk.html in the 'beam' column look for 2B North, 2A North goes off in poor weather.

However where you are Astra 2D might be a problem, that has all the BBC and ITV regions on it, so you should try and get some local reports. www.astra2d.com might have some.

The receiver and LNB are of course important and will affect this too.

Also are you sure that it is a 1.3m dish you are getting? Lots of installers in Spain sell 1.2m offset dishes as 1.3m or 1.4m dishes, as depending on how you measure a 1.2m offset dish you can come up with any of those sizes.

Yes, even in bad winter weather the south beams come in strong 24/7 with a dish that size.
