My Satellite Setup
4.2 meter prime focus with invacom lnb

Dear all,

As you've noticed in that last discussions on astra 2e middle east topic i'm new to the forum and i'm glad i joined it since it is very helpful!! Hello to all the hobbyists!

I own a satellite dish of 4.2 meters and i am based in cyprus. I've been following the all the topics about astra 2e and 2f so i know why i lost all the channels i lost and why i gained the ones i did.

My question is.. can i get more than that? My current setup is 4.2 meter dish 4 years old condition with invacom single + ADF 120. I lost many of the HD channels and that made me dissapointed.. also i lost sky movies action and many more now i only get the sky movies channels only on 2A beam. which are around 4 to 5 channels.

Is there a modification i can do? Get another feedhorn?? LNB??
I've seen many inverto black ultra converted to flange online.. is that going to help the situation??
p.s the reason i'm using the single invacom is because i accidentally ordered invacom quattro to begin with and then i bought a single one since it was cheaper.. Most of the install guys told me that the difference is not notticable now that BBC channels are not reachable. So i went with the single one.

I'm able to get 250 channels and the hd channels i get for example sky comedy hd is around 4,6 db.

Also take into consideration that i've retuned my dish yesterday with my current setup in order to reach the maximum signal possible after the changes of the two satellites.

Is there an lnb with more db power? that can help?

and finally can i get astra 19.2e with the same dish that is pointed on 28.2 with a bracket or an extention? i know astra 19.2 is fully reachable with smaller dishes in cyprus so will i have a problem if i have it with a bracket on my 4.2??

Any help appriciated!! Thanks in advance
And since i am new to the hobby is satlink ws-6932 any good for me ?? I'm searching for a life proof satellite finder which will be value for money and have the spectrum with the green mountains :pp lol i think its called live spectrum im not sure... :)
Regards,

Forget it - you are well outside the transmission beams of the new satellites & you will lose what you do have when Astra 2A & Eutelsat 28A are taken out of service later in the year.

You might want to investigate Sky Italia on 13E instead - many channels have dual language options

So 19.2 is a better choice right?? Will i be able to get 19,2 full??

Astra 1N arrives at 19E next week so there will be a few changes that we won't know for sure about until they start transmitting channels.

13E should be an easy catch though.

better to wait
also astra 19.2e soon will be change level signal
try to point dish 28a
check if you can get signal

What do u mean try to point dish 28a?? 28.5?? thanks

I already have 13e and nilesat 7west both very good satellites.. So i will change it when the 19.2 changes are done. Is it worth investing in that satlink??

Dont spend any money for a few weeks until 1N goes into service & we start to see what signal levels are like.

Can't comment on the meter as I don't have one but it sounds like a good idea to switch to 19E once you lose all your remaining Sky channels later in the year.

Even if you can't get 1N you'll still get some of the other Astra 1 channels.

Why is it certain that i will be losing the channels of astra 1n?? Wasn't it receivable when it was at 28,2 from cyprus? When will changes start to take effect?? And what is the reason they replace the satellite?? To make signal more focused like with astra 2e and uk spot beam??

If you're getting Nilesat 7W you should be already receiving lots of English programming

I only use it for bein sports.. What other packages are good on nilesat?? Thank you all!

When will changes start to take effect?? The next 2-3 weeks, 1N is moving round the arc at the moment & very close to 19E atm.

And what is the reason they replace the satellite?? Some of the existing ones at 19E are elderly & coming up towards the ends of their lives & 2C needs to go back to 28E to provide back up for the UK

To make signal more focused like with astra 2e and uk spot beam?? New satellites tend to have more sharp signal drop offs towards the edges of their transmission areas. Cyprus is really outside the official transmission area of the 19E slot, as its a western European slot.

Thanks for all the answers!! Btw wont me a 4.2 dish enough to get astra 1n?? I mean if they are able to get it now full with 2.4 dishes it sounds to me that 4.2 will be more than enough?? It's my guessing :)

Impossible to say - it depends which beams are used, & how the beams are aligned

We have seen transmission footprints change drastically when satellites have moved from one slot to another.

Be patient & wait a few weeks and all will be revealed.

about next 2g satellite
will be on 28.5e or 28.2e ?\
bicose 28a service out
maybe 2a take place ?

It depends what programs you search for. The 19 E slot is more about German programming than English

is there a chance i can get more channels if i tune ma dish to 28.5?? hmmm but there are some spanish and france channels dont they most of the times have english audio ? i mean documentaries movies etc
