Well impressed so far,its sensitive so far on stuff on Eutelsat 21E. Its menus are different to the icecrypt in a big way,the easiest menus ive found have been on the technomate . The missus came in at lunchtime and didnt even notice the new box on the shelf,its almost the same size as the icecrypt. But i hate the astra 28 scan in. So much editing to get the channels where you want them.

scanned in the hotbird stuff,it said search finished and locked up. It wouldnt even power down from the button on the front so i switched it off. Now it doesnt power up.....

Let it cool down - this happened to me once in the early days.

Fortunately not since!

And when you've finished, dump everything to USB.

short in the cable (sheath touching the core, for example)?

Surely that would blow the fuse? I changed the fuse in the 13A plug just to be sure. Its a brand new cable-like 4hrs old!!

Is the power cable firmly and securely plugged into the back of the box? (Those connectors often need a really good shove)

If so, is there a short on the cable from the dish - disconnect power, then remove coax cable from LNB IN, wait a few seconds and see if she powers up then.


Edit: I think hairybadger was also referring to the coax ....................

I'll give that a try, i substituted the cable from the tecnomate in the other room as i know thats working and still no joy.Back in a mo.

I've done it with an Openbox. I thought I'd killed it as it refused to come on again until I realised what I'd done and fixed the cable.

Time to return it, I'm afraid.

The only reliability issues I've heard of with the F3 are people (like me!) bricking them firmware wise. But that can be overcome.

When you get the replacement, PM me and I'll send you my TP-Prog file which should save you a lot of time.

Sorry to hear you got a lemon Paul, I had mine lock a couple of times when I first got it and always when it finished a scan but I put it down to overheating as it was on top of a pile of STBs. Don't let it put you off, it's an excellent box especially for the price. I've just finished setting mine up on a motorised dish and the only complicated (PITA) part is setting up various favourite lists.

Ah well,plugged the icecrypt back up and away we go. Modern technology just isnt what it was....good job i have 3 spare machines to fall back on. Hopefully the seller in Stockport will just exchange it.
