Skybox F3

Righto. Easy to do no problems. it locked again after scanning all hotbird channels.

Switched it back on as it wouldnt do anything. Seems okay and all hotbird stuff is stored.

Phew: They do tend to freeze/lock after doing a bit of work.

But since completing all my scanning and sorting I've not had a single glitch.

Probably worth a reboot every now and again as a pre-emptive strike against locking up.

BTW, 21.5W is in there somewhere - (shows up on the "All Satellites" Channel List, but not in the actual Satellite List: A weird bug that came to light after the last update. Analoguesat had a similar issue.

Okay ,how many channels does the box hold,10000?

No idea, actually.

Enough.

My Openbox S10 has a habit of running out of transponder space. I have something like 17 LNBs attached and so a blind or accurate scan on an erstwhile emptyish LNB has a habit of producing the message "space full" (or something like that, I forget exactly what it says), even when I'm nowhere near the 5000 channel limit. What I tend to do now is manually (one-by-one, unfortunately) delete all the transponders from a satellite before running a blind scan - this keeps the level of deadwood down. Come to think of it it would probably be easier to delete the satellite and then recreate it with an empty transponder list - will try that next time :)

Only at 1500 channels at the moment, would have thought it was 10000, the icecrypt is,the technomate is 3000, and the Grundig gufsat01hd well......i dont think it could take 400 without locking up. You could just enter active transponders off Lyngsat etc.

Well this was the answer from the supplier....

"Firstly I am sorry that you've experienced a problem.

the issue you are experiencing sounds like the firmware has crashed in the box - this is very common because there are many bogus versions of the firmware available online and it is the firmware that is clone and has caused the box to crash.

We sell the boxes with all FTA channels and latest firmware supplied. the problems arise when the boxes are upgraded or configured for other services such as to view paid channels.

Are you familiar with the process of re-flashing the box with a RS232 cable? This is the easiest resolution to your issue.
When we receive it, we will test the box for you and reflash it for you or send you a replacement box."

Cant say fairer than that.
I have to say when playing with cccam and encrytped channels, box rebooted every 5 minutes, now I only have FTA 28.2E it has been on 12 hours a day for 2 weeks without a single glitch. Think I will stick with the current setup but will read with interest about your progress.

Yes but Terry, my situation wasnt at anything to do with me changing the firmware or installing different images etc. It was simply a case of scanning in Hotbird after scanning in 5 or so other satellites and the box locking up at the end of the search. Switching it off as i did probably bricked it. But when you've had a machine 2 or 3 hrs it goes back straight away, theres no messing about trying stuff except for obvious things as in the threads above. Anyhow 11 satellites are on the box and it has locked once since, but rebooted fine after.(The box wouldnt go back to standby).Everything is backed up on usb stick and if i need help in the future i can always call on Tivu and Analoguesat for guidance. I'm not expecting any problems ,its a great box. Even the icecrypt and technomate locked up rarely so i'm not worried. Just want to get some reasonable weather to see if its going to dig out some more channels off Eutelsat 21E. This is the first box that locks in a channel with 30% SNR!!

Sorry for the confusion, also like to to agree the sensitivity of the box is great, with my old digital 1200 first sniff of rain most of the channels went off.
With the F3, apart from a brief deluge for a few hours, all has been well during light rain even at night, The other features may be useful if I lose freesat in the upcoming changes but definetely 50 quid well spent.

Great box for an amazing price. I have 12 satellites scanned in and its been fine since the earlier hiccup, well chuffed.

So whats on the latest update of interest,as i've set up the wireless network on my unit tonight. The weather app doesnt seem to do much!

Weather App? I thought they'd binned that 6 months ago!

Which Firmware are you using - 28 Jan 2013 is the latest, IIRC.

Anyway, the Weather App Server no longer Serves ..................

July 2012 i think Tivu,is there key software on it,i'm guessing not.

Theres assorted cams for c/s activities. A cw file will allow access to biss channels with no problems..

The cam menu has to be activated, although Ive forgotten the exact sequence to activate it

I'll do some sniffing about on interweb.

Don't bother .................. 6666 from Root of Network Local Setting Menu

Upgraded to 311012 firmware ,just testing the you tube access but it sits there saying downloading even on a short vid of 20 secs. Ho hum.I dont understand the 6666 statement above Tivu. But no worries,i'll probably have a play tomorrow.

Press Menu

Scroll to the Sub-Menu headed "Network Local Setting"

Press "6666" on your Remote

Then you will see additional sub-sub-Menu items appear .......................

QED
