slight confusion with diablo cam 2

Echostar AD3600IP, 1.8 Prodelin, 18" echostar actuator, Inverto lnb, 4" groundstand

If I'm using a diablo cam 2 and programming it up with a cas3, do I also need a programmable or valid smartcard to view anything ?
 
No, all the FTA channels will be watchable no matter what codes you throw into it. ;)
 
so if they're FTA, what purpose does the cam serve ?
 
Programme it up with Ipnosys 012 and you will have plenty of other channels besides the FTA ones.
