Hi I have a small B+B with 12 Rooms on the old Analogue System which has three Dishes setup and 2 Multi Switches, Understanding If I can get away with it I don't want to redo the cabling, but the current Multi Switches are mounted underneath the Dishes on the Wall so If I put up Multi LNBs the cabling isn't long enough to reach the LNB.

1) Can the cable be extended ?

2) Can I use Just 8 feed LNBs or do I have to put a Multiswitch in Place as well ?

3) The Old Multiswitches are mounted outside and it can get -20 here in the winter, will the new switches be okay at this temp ?

Any better suggestions or recommendations ?

I am trying to keep costs down this year, in a couple of years will rewire all but just had new windows in and the snow is due any time so need a quick fix to get me by.

Thanks

Dave

If its a 19E system then you have until next April to get yourself sorted.

Not really sure what you are trying to do Dave, can you clarify please.

Found your old thread from last year http://www.satellites.co.uk/forums/...l/183680-own-home-small-hotel.html#post951802, but you need to come back and look at your started threads, otherwise people will not bother responding.

The simple answer is yes you can join cables and yes you can use a couple of Octo LNBs and dispense with the multiswitches, plus one of the dishes, as they are all pointing at the same satellite.

Only rider is that you need to make the connections properly with decent F connectors and female to female adapters, then use self amalgamating tape to seal them, or make the joins in a waterproof box or cover.

Does the current multiswitch system feed in terrestrial TV signals as well? These would be lost if you went Octo. Well, they could be fed in but you would need a combiner unit for each output - cheaper to use a multiswitch in that case.
