I'm still looking for a HD sat receiver..I have seen the Smart cx42..It has twin tuner/hd/pvr/phono sockets etc..It seems to have a lot for the price..i have seen it for 89euro..Has anyone got one of these and what are they like?

Also there is the Smart MK44..which seems to have the same spec bit with a 250g hard drive and an ethernet socket..But on Smarts website it is in the section of SD receivers not HD..All what i've read on this receiver doesn't mention that it is HD ready but just mentions upscaling..It has a HDMI socket on the back..But is this different to being HD ready?

Many thanks

It's a kind of bridge device ................. It only receives SD channels, but can upscale the resolution to interface with any HD Ready TV.

Silvercrest/Comag do one like this as well.

I suspect it may be better in the long run to get a proper HD receiver.

OTOH, the price is good and there still aren't that many true HD Channels around.

Recording in HD is copy-protected which is a limiting factor for all PVRs.

Thanks tivu
That clears that up..I'll think i go with the cx42 as it is HD ready..I wanted to play around to see what HD channels i could get in a fringe area to see if they are a bit stronger than some of the SD channels..It would have been nice to have the ethernet socket but can do without it as i'll just still use the dreambox for streaming, playing mp3's ect
Thanks again
