smartcards in DB..?

My Satellite Setup
One 100cm dish with 3 Universal Quattro 0.6db LNBs at 28.2E, 19.2E, 13.0E..

One 85cm dish with 1 Universal Quattro 0.6db LNB at 0.9W..

4 - 4x1 DiSEqC switches..

DM8000HD, DM7020S, HUMAX VACI-5300, OPENTEL ODS 4000F

I'm trying to learn smartcard programming with Infinity Unlimited and Infinity USB Phoenix..
Would like to know which cards I can use in my DB7020S..?
Have an old S*y viewing card - would I be able to 'activate' this with the programmers..?
 
Nope. You have to have a valid subscription on a sky card.

Pay up or do without.

An activated card should work fine
 
OK - but what is it then - that makes the DB attractive..?
I mean - if you can only use subscription cards - couldn't one then just as well have a skybox..?
Or is there something 'magic' about the dreambox - that I have failed to grab..?

Or - is what you are saying - that it's only with sky that I need a valid subscription card - that I can use other cards - programmed myself with the DB..?
 
Read through the threads regarding emulators, softcams and key files etc, the fact that the Dreambox can take official cards is just one small part of its capabilities.
