""8 million times the conductive density of copper""????

Biggest load of tripe I have seen in a long time, next best conductor above copper is silver, and nothing is better then that,(at room temperature that is) the next best thing above silver would be a super conductor, now if these were cooled by liquid nitrogen then maybe.

Ya gotta look at their other items for sale!

I like the Quantum Approach plug.

....."The way it works cannot be easily explained in a few words." (so we'll baffle you with gobbledygook)

....."Electro-sensible people will likely benefit." (but stupid ones won't)

(and if you fall for this you'll be too embarrassed to ask for a refund):-rofl2

Not true according to the University of Manchester research team

Although applying this technology to a simple fuse does seem extremely far fetched. Some very exciting other apllications of the substance however.

If you look at the Manchester University site there are some very interesting applications being developed for this graphene including carbon transistors supposedly incredibly faster than silicon ones and also capable of being manufactured a lot smaller due to the ability to form graphene as one molecule thick. Also many applications for flexible electronics.

I must however question its suitability for use in fuses due to two main factors - its almost super conductivity and secondly to it apparently being a lot stronger than steel - both factors to me would appear to make a fuse less likely to "blow"

Funnily enough I was looking at the UoM site only last week to see what's happening with Graphene. I was specifically looking to see if there's been any further advance about using Graphene to make very high capacity electricity storage cells. Didn't find anything but I was probably looking in the wrong place.

Did I ever tell you about the time I made Graphene?

I went to a concert (Elbow) at Jodrell Bank a few years ago. there was a sort of science park set up in tents nearby and one of them housed people from the UoM promoting their research. On one of the displays there you could put a mall piece of graphite onto a length of some ordinary adhesive tape and then repeatedly try to pull the layers apart.

They would then put the tape under a microscope and look for slivers that allowed light through. If they found any you had made Graphene. Simple as that. My reward was a badge proclaiming "I've made Graphene" which I have in front of me as I type.

I have no wish to lead anyone down the garden path but just in case, I have pencilled the date in my diary. It is so cold today I am already wearing the coat I would have normally gone and got:eek:
