i have a pace ds430n, 2.4 community dish,in tenerife with an activated sky card bought out here.I am unable to pick up ch 4 at all, but my friends here can.
my set up says my EPG is 3.3.b5, i have been told i should have 3.3.a6,will a software update do this, and will it do it without bringing problems with my sky card?
Also, a friend out here with a 1 metre dish and a sky freeview card receives
true movies channel, which i do not receive....any ideas?

My neighbor has the same problem, the only cause i can think of is your dish is slightly off. Or you could try forcing a download of software, i dont know exactly which buttons you press, so will somebody please quick reply with the info?

I doubt' if a software update will find the missing channel, particularly as yours would appear to be a later version. How big is this communal system and how long are the cable runs, could be that the run to your place is longer than the others, you probably would be better speaking to whoever installed the dish/cables and get them to test with a meter.

You could always try one of your neighbours' digiboxes and see if it makes a difference.

a software update should make no difference - although it shouldn't do any harm either, but is unnecessary.

If both ch4 and ch5 are missing, suggests a card problem.

If only ch4, might possibly be the signal.

To find out, get the actual Astra2 Sky ch4 transponder details (freq, polarity, symbol rate, f.e.c. ratio) from one of the usual Internet sites (eg, www.satcodx.com). Then, invoke the installer menu (services, then press 4, 0, 1, select, on remote), and enter the ch4 transponder details into "manual tune". This should then find and list the ch4 feeds, also showing you the all-important "signal quality" reading. Instead, if it says "no channels found", you know there's a problem (this method works for any particular channel you want to test!).

This is puzzling, since a multiswitch distribution problem would remove a quarter of the channels, not just one! I can't see what might "block out" channel4, and nothing else.

Hmmm, maybe before that, just go into the intaller menu and select "new installation", then your receiver will scan all the channels, and Ch4 might possibly appear just by doing that! Try both, whatever works.

How long have you had the card in your possession? Channel 4 and Channel 5 need periodic updates to keep the stations active on the card. If the card has not been used for a few weeks it will have missed a signal and the stations will be unavailable. All you need to do is leave the card in the box for about 24/36 hours and the stations will come on as soon as they get the signal.

Your all going in a bit technical here

First things first...swap digiboxes with a nieghbour ie you try yours on his feed and he tries his on yours, then tell us the results ;)

Yes, you could, but what sort of "hardware fault" will remove only 1 sat mux?

Who says thats at fault? Could be all manner of other problems. It might not be a problem at all! What if the digiboxes the others are using have more sensitive tuners such as 2600s? Best to swap them and see if the fault transfers then you know what side of the arial wire to look on.

PS I take it Mux means Multiplexer (I don't usually work with communal stuff)

sorry, bignick, yes fair enough.

ok, "mux" is ambiguous, it could mean equipment, so i mean an mpeg2 mux, ie, a single 27Mhz sat "channel".

sorry, been busy
I took my box and card round to my friends, it works perfecly on their 3 metre dish.
I phoned the company who maintain our community system ( a few months ago I could receive ch 4 in daytime), who reckon we have some maintenance work on the system due to be carried out, which should correct the problem......can´t imagine what that could be.
Anyway, this work has been put back, ´cos we had a tropical storm on monday, and they reckon they have a load of emergency call outs to deal with, I will post again when they have been and let you know the outcome.

also, since that storm, the friends with the 3m dish cannot pick up ITV or any BBC, yet sky works perfectly....odd?

ITV and BBC are both on Astra 2D which has a very narrow footprint (intended area of reception) in fact it's concentrated on the UK.

Most of the $ly transmissions are on Astra 2A/B or Eurobird which have a much wider footprint. A dish large enough for 2D is overkill for these other ones so if there's a slight problem somewhere they will still get through.

Hi I'm in Lanzarote and there are so many dishes here that need to be realigned. Its not unusual with a big dish for it to move slightly and loose BBC, ITV etc and still recieve the other sky channels. they need the dish realigned and that should sort things
