Solar Eclipse - 2026

Channel Hopper

Suffering fools, so you don't have to.

My Satellite Setup
A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.
My Location
UK
Something you don't see every day. Between 90 and 98% moon coverage wherever you are in the British Isles. Totality in parts of Greenland, Iceland, Spain, France and Malta but not for long.

Is NASA TV the best channel to watch the eclipse?

Tried the colander and white paper idea but that failed miserably - fortunately the best line of sight in our North Yorkshire village was the middle of the lane right outside our house and one resident heard us talking and came to join us bearing several pairs of the approved specs! Apparently she ordered them online and the minimum quantity was ten!

And they worked fantastically :Y

Tried using a colander, but it strained my eyes :-wow

My best phone camera photos of the eclipse. Taken at 7 minutes and 13 minutes past 7 - just about the time of maximum occlusion.

Nearly didn't get them with the high cloud that frequently obscured the eclipse.
