If the 2x wireless units worked then that could only have been by wireless linking with the Ethernet unit (and then via PLC to the router) - thus it appears that the wireless on the Ethernet-connected unit WAS working. Thanks, but that suggests the wireless link is poor in the location (then fixed with a powerline) but no info as to whether the wireless secton gets
disabled once the app and broadband is functioning through the cabling.
I think I'll have to try one out with the analyser taking readings nearby, unless somebody can give a difinitive answer.
I have a Sonos S1 Beam Soundbar, which has always used WiFi.Understood and makes sense. perhaps I gave worded the question incorrectly
Do Sonos devices, old or older, in the vicinity of other speakers, registered and on similar cabling back to the broadband hub, have a facility (automatic or by manual configuration through the app) where the wireless circuitry can be powered down ?
Which means it doesn't turn off the wireless part, despite there being no other Sonos items in the vicinity.I suspect the Sonos unit with the Ethernet port is configured to work like a phone which, when used somewhere there's a WiFi connection then automatically connects to the internet via the latter instead of using the normal 4G/5G connection - Thus it automatically connects via the Ethernet port but ALSO acts as a WiFi Access Point for the other two Sonos units to allow them to connect to the internet.
The app I have allows me to connect with SonosNet,, which simply gives me the choice of another of the standard WiFi channels, i.e 1, 6 or 11 in case, as you say, there's conflicts within the prevailing WiFi system.Thanks. I will be checking the rooms that the devices are installed in tomorrow.
I have seen a couple of sites that suggest the Sonos company has a dedicated wi-fi system that can be enabled that reduces the amount of traffic and potential frequency conflicts. Is that option available on the Sonos app you have ?
