Guys
Sorry for yet another FTV card question but done the searches and reading but am still a little unsure on this one.
My set-up is as follows:

System 1
Normal Sky Digibox set-up - family pack sub

System 2 - completely separate from System 1
Dreambox 500S connected to my motorised dish plus NFS mount for recording.

What I want to do is use my Sky card in the Dream for occasional recording.

I would then like to get a FTV card to put in my Sky Digibox so I can watch the normal 1-5 channels while my Dreams busy recording with my existing card.

My question is do I need a new digibox to activate the FTV card as I assume giving the details of my existing box will screw with my family sub card (or will this flag up straight away that I am obviously taking out my existing card?)

Any thoughts on this would be really appreciated.

I don't really want to buy another digibox if I can help it. Just ultimately want to have two activated cards (FTV and my existing family pack card) that I can interchange in my existing box to keep alive.

Thanks guys

A new free to view card will work ok in your Sky box, provided it has already been activated (the are many companies who sell these). If you pair this new card to the digibox by phoning Sky the family pack card will no longer work on the premuim channels when you put it back in, though Sky One and UK gold etc. will.
I assume you can program the other box to accept the family pack Sky card. This emulation might not work in the future.
The short answer is yes you can do what you want but get the FTV pre-activated.

Hi m8
Thanks for the reply. Yeah, sorted on my other box and I appreciate that this might not last forever but for the time being I'm going to use this as my set-up.

In this hobby of ours - change is the only constant.

Cheers again

Yes but the point is freesat FTV cards will work in any box and do not need to be paired.

Yes I know, but he will have to activate the ftv card before he can use it. If he does this using his receiver, it will immediately deactivate the first card! :D :D

That's why he has to buy a pre-activated card. I did this myself recently.

Snap

Had a problem wherein my Free to V card would not activate, Phoned up Sky using Sender off Portable phone,, used UK details that I gave when ordering, and they tried to reset again, but didnt work, 24hrs later I phoned back and they sent me a preactivated card, (to UK Address) ...No Problems
