Spectrum analyser meter for DAB?

I have the Promax TV explorer signal meter which is fine for DVB-S/T, but I often install DAB antennae and wondered if there was a meter out there or a way of analysing DAB?

Not aware of one which measures anything more than signal strength on DAB, my Televes measures strength only once I drop into frequency mode and move the curser down to the 200 mhz zone.

Having said that, it's normally sufficient for setting up systems and aligning antennae.
 
Yes, reading the trace is normally sufficient enough for DAB.
 
You would need an analyser able to work with OFDM, from memory they start at around £2k
and go upwards

Mine was nearly twice that, but the manufacturers still don't think that DAB is worth adding.
 
Ah, but the cost of providing any worthwhile/useful data analysing a broadcast using divisions over frequency goes up dramatically the lower the frequency. The signal is resilient enough to be used both over relatively large distances and in congested areas without many glitches appearing.

At Band III for the man up a ladder, stick with directionality and gain, you are unlikely to need anything else.

Yep, which is pretty much what I alluded to in post #2.
 
Should be able to do it on your explorer.

On terrestrial, press the digital/ analogue button. Brings up a menu, select channel set from UK to DAB UK. This then changes o DVB-C. Go on from there.
 
I know this is an old thread but thought I'd just post this in addition:

I found on "Jim's aerials" website the frequency range: 217.5 - 230MHz

I was on a job today with poor DAB reception, exactly as stated earlier in this thread, I changed the meter to analogue, wound it down to this range and zoomed in... I couldn't interrogate the signal like you can with a MUX or TP, but it was good enough to see it on the spectrum to know it would work... I had to chase a fault through a system and the customer had a UHF/FM amp that for some reason had stopped working properly and loads of noise on the bottom end, so with the Promax and the knowledge of the frequency range I sussed it, new amp, all done!
