Came across this lovely little programme some time ago, so it's about time I shared it with you.
It's called ieSpell, and as it says it will check your spelling before you submit them to e-mails, forums, etc, etc.
After download an icon will sit on your browser toolbar, it's very easy to use and to be honest I would be bloody lost without it.
It's only 2.5Mb and does not take long to download, try it and it's free.
www.iespell.com/

P.S. It only works on Internet Explorer.

This program works well with Internet Explorer, but does anyone know of any spelling programmes that work with Avant or Opera ?

Have just found this program called WordWeb and it's a FREE Thesaurus & Dictionary for Windows.
It is not so easy to use as ieSpell but you can use it on any program, I've tried it on Avant and Opera and it seems to work alright, but it is a much bigger program and it will take a bit of getting used too.

If someone finds another program that is easier to use please let us know.

Hi H,
Tried your words on my PC and except for ant & tis (which are both words in their own right) all the other words were corrected.
Were you using iespell with Internet Explorer or something else ?
You say it works fine in places, ware did you have problems with it.
It might be worth your while to reinstall it, and see what happens. :(

Hello Rob,

Thanks for your reply. I am using IE6 with SP2. I have Uninstalled and re-installed it upon your suggestion but no joy.

It is working correctly on Yahoo Groups' editor and a few other web forms that I have tried. It is failing mainly on Outlook 2003's web e-mail client and this site's WYSIWYG editor.

BTW, what does the word 'tis' mean?

Regards,

H

Strange one this, I'm also using IE6 with SP2 installed and have had no problems since I installed it about six months ago.
You say it works o.k. on somethings but not on others made me think that it is the limit of it's ability, but yours does not work on this forum which is strange.
It might be a good idea if you tried the "Support" section on iespell's web-site.

As for tis that's easy, it's from the TV show "Tiswas" O-Ha O-Ha O-Ha

Was there not also a film called "Tis a Pity She's a Whore"?

@hmadfai
"Tis" is an archaic contraction of "it is", nowadays superseded by "it's" in normal conversation.

Usually prefaced by an apostrophe - 'tis - in most literature.

Thanks for the info re 'tis.

Have just installed iespell on my work computer (XP Pro. + SP2). Same problem; iespell works in some places but not everywhere, and not on this forum's editor. Could be the PRO bit in the XP on both machines that is causing it.

Thank you all for your help.

You might have a good point there H about iespell not working properly in XP Pro.
After all the program is free for home use only, and may only work in XP Home.
Can anyone confirm this ?

No SP2 on this version though, will try it on the other PC and see if it works. :)
