I have a TM 5500 CI and after a rescan, is not picking up any signal (or channels) at 10723 H 29,900 3/4...im also unable to manually add this ransponder as the TM is stating the TP already exists.

I've tried a hotbird rescan and also removed Hotbird and rescanned.....any ideas pls?

.....HELP !!!

There are 2 Private Spice channels listed on Hotbird, 10723 H 29900 part of the Orange package and 11938 H 27500 part of the Nova package.
Try scanning the frequency in slightly differently e.g. 10725 H 29900 or 10721 H 29900.

Tried all day with still no joy.

My Private Spice reception (and most other HB channels) tended to pixelate quite often in reasonably decent weather!

I use an 80cm dish and live in West Yorkshire.....

......might my dish alignment require adjustment and could this explain why my TM 5500 CI is unable to obtain the 10723 signal?

I also cannot find Dorcel on 11,411.......

A firmware upgrade....time for a new receiver perhaps?

Are you picking up any of the FTA channels on that frequency?

No idea - could be anything from local interference blatting that particular frequency to a damaged cable, with numerous possibilities in between.

Have you checked to see if anything is interfering with the signal? DECT phones interfere with some frequencies but I can't remember which ones.
Also what signal strength and signal quality are you getting?

The DECT phones and 'N' Wireless are not affecting the searches!

10723 Strength 78
10723 Quality 10

I've also noticed that the reciever can't obtain a signal for any transponder where the quality is stated as being '10'.

The reciever is able to find channels on other transponders, for example, 10872, 10757, 10796 and 11242 etc, all of which have a quality of '20' or higher.

Note all the above checks are carried out via the 'Advanced Search' options which enables me to manualy add and search individual transponders, which incidently, the TM is finding, however with no signal.

Could this be something to do with my alignment and / or lnb perhaps?

As stated above, I live in W Yorkshire and I'm using an 80 cm dish.

Your help is appreciated btw.

Always ignore the signal strangth and try to improve the signal quality, either your dish is misaligned or there's another problem, maybe with your LNB, or settings.
I would gently move your dish, with an 80 cm dish you should have a very high signal strength, at 10% you might not even be pointed at Hoptbird, can you get any channels?
Can you please post a list of channels, and frequencies, you are receiving.

Mickha, I can get some fta channels, yes, with the majority of them heavily pixelated.

I just did a rescan in the wet weather and it located approx 450 channels.....some with strong signal and some very poor signals with heavy pixels if not, no screen.

Last night, in dry conditions, the TM located approx 800 channels.

Other thing to mention is that the same dish has my sky LNB on it too....I recal the engineer having to 'custom make' a bracket that would fit both LNB's...I think maybe a new alignment and a bracket may be in order?

If most channels have low quality and are pixellating in good weather, then it is most likely to be a dish alignment/LNB skew problem. Can you post some pictures of the dish and LNB?

On a good strong satellite like Hotbird, signal quality on a well aligned dish should be close to signal strength on your receiver meter.

That looks quite exposed - at a guess the wind had caught it and nudged the dish around a fraction.

Presumably the Hotbird lnb is the offset one - which will be collecting far less signal to begin with than if it was the prime focus lnb.

One for the Dish Doctor then?
I'll get him round for an alignment check.
