i hav a friend flat that has two feeds for sky plus , but he wants to run two sky plus boxes so connected a stacker de stacker and having problems with the lmb 1 out put not a stable signal, ( belive thats the one that has its frequency shifted high ) i did have a connection close to the wall , so have now solderd this and coverd in foil in case that was a problem, wen the stackers are not in line the single signal is good, i am ony 25 ft from the amp but we cannot run any more cables so this is the only way , can any one help or had a simmiler problem
 
As I understand it, a stacker destacker, will not magically convert two satellite feeds into four.

The stacker destacker is designed to feed two satellite feeds down a single cable, and then to split them back up at the receiver end.

So, the bottom line is (if I understand you correctly),

Don't bother, as it won't work.
 
Should be noted that Stacker unit's shift the freq upto the 3Ghz range where losses can be high more noticable on low grade downlead.

Those stackers are a flaky way of doing things I know one large web store stopped selling them as they had too many returns as they didnt work properly.

Run the extra lengths of cable if at all possible.
 
I installed a stacker destacker today for the first time,for an upgrade to a sky+ receiver(the original underground cable was stuck in the conduit and couldn't be pulled out). A 3m dish in the garden and about 40-50m cable run to the house. At the TV end I have 2 short cables to the sky+box.Signal level on the digibox menu seemed to be okay but I couldn't hang around for sky to send signal to activate the sky+(it eventually took 4 hours)
What problems have been reported ?
 
The reason they stopped selling them was because customers insisted on using them with the wrong cable giving rise to numerous complaints that they didn't work.

If they are used on say RG6 cable for example which is only rated up to 1Ghz, the losses over long cable runs will certainly be noticable and reception problems can occur :D

Installed by an expert or someone who knows what they are doing Im sure they would work reasonably well. Installed by your average ham fisted Joe Public with ropy below standard cable its not going to happen.
 
I suspect that the problem occurs as the main reason for needing one is that another cable can't be run, and a cable is already in place. The quality, type and condition of the existing cable can't thus be guaranteed.
 
That was my situation. I couldn't take out the original cable but it is good quality low loss cable from M&P Italy. My average loss is 10-12db on a run over 30-40m(on the low frequency that 2D transmits)
 
That's fine Zorba, the average loss @ 2Ghz is 3dB per 10m and 2dB @ 1Ghz per 10m.
 
from readin some where!...nothing should be 'inline' from the stacker to the destacker...only good cable and 'F' plugs...meanin No wall box cable joins or bad cable bends!...otherwise no sig...but don't think this is the correct solution for x2 5Ky+ boxes!

Loftbox or multiroom!
Location of both 5ky boxes!
