Standoff required for standard dish install ?!?!?!?

Hi,
I'm about to install a standard mk4 Sky dish (Raven brand) on a chimney stack, as you can see below I need a standoff as the dish will be at 90 degrees pointing down the road...
What would be the best way to attach it, would it be a 'U pole' and if so can the standard arm/dish I've got be secured to it without modification ??

any advice would be really appreciated

Easiest way (and probably the cheapest) is to double up the standoff bracket with a couple of additional nuts /bolts. Reversing the one on the wall mount allows both to be bolted flat against each other.
 
If it's on a chimney, then use an 8" or 13" cradle mount with a piece of steel pole in it (the cradle mount has around 4 " standoff), then attach the end of the dish arm to that, using the mast clamp kit is it's a Mk4 dish. I believe Southern satellite one of our advertisers sell the kit. It is seldom a good idea to bolt things to chimneys.

If you need more standoff, then perhaps a U mast as well, or mount it on back of the stack.
 
Many thanks for your advice guys, think i'll be lashing a pole to the stack.

One last Q..... Am i correct in being able to use the Raven arm supplied to attach to the pole with a 'V' bolt as below ???

Yes, you can use a v-bolt, if you can get one to match the holes OK. I use the pole mount kit sold specifically for the purpose.
 
As Robbo says, there is a pole mounting kit made specially for the job, if you don't use this and use a conventional U bolt, you will need to pack out with a couple of washers, as the holes in the bracket are recessed for coach bolts.
