Starting from scratch in Spain

My Satellite Setup
TM-6900 HD COMBO Super

I have recently moved to the Elche area of Spain, i am looking to set up my own system so i can recieve HD and Free Sat aswell as anything else i can manage.

I'm planning to use a TM-6900 Super COMBO i also have a sky + box. Can anyone advise me on ALL the other equipment i need to get, i was thinking of a motorised dish and eventually card sharing is the reciever capable of this?

I am a complete novice.
 
You are probably in the worst part of Spain to receive Astra 2D, from where the UK Terrestrial channels (BBC ITV etc) are transmitted on Freesat. The map I have seen ssys a 2.4m dish is needed. Someone local to your area will know better.

It is probably best to have a large fixed dish for Freesat, and a smaller motorised one for anything else, I would have thought.
 
With a 1.5 metre dish and an Inverto Black Ultra I can receive all the vertical transponders from 2D. Horizontal transponders need a dish of more than 2.4 metres. I would consider separate systems. One large fixed dish for Astra 2 and a motorized setup with say a 1 metre dish for the rest.
 
I have been informed that the TM 6900 does not have the neccesary software to use card sharing, if you want to go down this line i should buy a Dreambox DM800 HD PVR can anyone advise as the Dreambox is £419 and the 6900 is £279?
 
Depends what you mean by card sharing. If you have a subscription card and want to card share it among boxes within the same house SmartWi works fine for this (except for NDS cards) and is compatible with the TM6900. If you want access an online card server to share a card held at a remote location you will need a Linux box for this.

That would be good seeing as i'm complete novice, ref the card sharing it depends what channels i could pick up with just a sat, i.e. BBC etc and football how would we get in touch

apparently i haven't been a member long enough so i can't PM i can recieve them but can't send any. Move in to new place wed near Crevillente hopefully will be able to contact you by then
 
Having discussed this topic with a few people it would seem the Dreambox is the way a head because of a certain software called Linux(please explain) and the TM doesn't except this.

i'm looking at the HD800 is this a normal satellite reciever as well? Would i get all the sat channels i would with the 6900 combo super? and most importantly would i be able to get Premier footy on foriegn channels

Linux is an operating system very similar to UNIX and because it is 'open source' it can be developed by anyone with a will to do so for very little cost

A dreambox has a steep learning curve and is most certainly not plug and play, as you do not know what linux is I would not recommend this for a beginnner
