streaming two channels from the same transponder

Hi,

Does anyone know if it's possible to stream from the dreambox two different channels at the same time (assuming these two channels are from the same transponder)?

currently I am using streamts (using -http://[IP]:31339/...) to get the stream of the channel I am watching, but it would be nice if there's a way to get the streams of other channels from the same transponder as well.

No I haven't. I also posted on some other forums, but didn't receive any useful answer.

Please let me know if you'll find such a way.
 
I really do not see how this would be possible with the feeble processing power of the 500, it is running Linux because it is the only O/S slim enough to be functional with that processor. To process and stream a second stream at the same time I suspect would be too much for the system.
 
Hi Folks,

I have used streaming quite a lot but have never tried streaming two channels at the same time. I do not have a DM500S but a DM7000S which is similar. As a result of your posts I decided to experiment and here are my results:

I have been totally unable to successfully stream two channels. I have started two streams but as soon as the second stream starts the first becomes pixelated and broken. This may(?) be due to my very low power laptops as much as low processing power in the Dreambox. I am only using Linux Netbooks, which stream a single channel with no problems.

The way I started the two streams was to open the Enigma Webif and select the first channel. I clicked on the VPID but instead of playing it with VLC, I saved it to disk on my netbook. I then selected the second channel from the same transponder (difficult as the Webif does not display the channels on the Current Transponder as the Dreambox menus do, it just says 'none'!!) and again clicked the VPID and saved the file to disk, this time as video2.m3u with the first as video.m3u.
I then right clicked video.m3u and selected 'Open with VLC'. The first channel started playing. Next I did the same for video2.m3u. This channel started playing in a second instance of VLC but was very broken. I could select the first instance of VLC and there was the first channel but also very broken.
No other system that I tried would actually attempt to run the two streams.

However, what I can do quite easily is watch one channel on the TV connected to Dreambox SCART and stream another channel from the same transponder to my Netbook.
With the Dreambox switched on, start the Enigma webif and select the channel you want to stream. Click the VPID and this time select 'Open With VLC'. The stream will start on the PC/Laptop and the TV will display the same channel.
Now, using the Dreambox Remote Control, select a different channel on the same transponder. The TV now displays the new channel while the PC/Laptop continues to display the original channel.

Edit: I eventually tried very low bit rate channels (sub 500Kb/s) thinking it might be my WiFi connection restricting the bandwidth but the channels were still broken. Whereas I can stream a single full bandwidth (5Mb/s or greater) channel with no WiFi or Netbook problems.
