- My Satellite Setup
- Technomate 3100, Universal LNB, 85cm dish, motor go to X
- My Location
- NORWAY, Karmøy
Living in Norway, West coast proximity of Stavanger, I can just receive the FTA package from the UK using a 85cm dish, STRONG Satellite Receiver SRT6155 and Goto X motor, and two band LNB.
Unfortunately, it will only pick up BBC1, 2 and 3 and some other channels.
Problem is, the receiver will NOT do a blind search, and relies on updates from Astra or Hotbird. Using the update function, it would not update to the new Astra satellites.
My theory, is that the updates ar no longer supported... so I have a dead box.
So, I got this setup instead:
Technomate 3100 (Repaired the PSU, broken capacitors of poor quality)
Universal LNB
Dish TRIAX 85cm
GoTo X motor, GT-DM140
At first it would not work, but after a factory reset the tuner at least turns to BBC automatically and stops the motor, so longitude and latitude is set correctly I assume. The tuner found approx. 340 FTA channels.
My questions are:
Should I give up the Strong SRT 6155?
A shame though, lovely box. Ran the motor very accurately and correct using Goto X, no problems ever.
I need one spare motor and receiver in case it breaks down, what should I buy? The other sat receiver did not have a HDMI output, so I guess that is on my wish list for good picture quality. Should the new box have HD function for FTA? Looking for something FTA and affordable... But I Chinese ebay box to £20 seems dubious?
