They are encrypted because of rights issues outside the UK. I assume they are on European beams as either they are cheaper or Sky is helping out with the transmissions.
 
They are encrypted due to rights issues. The bigger ones (which will be the ones that launch on satellite) have big enough backers to buy the rights for reasonably popular series.

Having said that, from what I heard a couple of weeks ago the viewing figures for "London Live" are a complete disaster, barely registering above zero.....
 
Well, if I want to watch something local, a regional news service from BBC or itv (HTV West) is enough for me... So not really surprised about the bad viewing figures.
 
I watch London Live, but not for the local content. :-doh
